Why is Haiti all black?

Haiti's total population is 8.92 million, mainly black, accounting for about 95%, and mixed-race and white descendants account for 5%, with the highest population density in Latin America. Haiti was originally inhabited by the Arawaks, an Indian tribe. 1492, Columbus sailed here and named the island Hispaniola (meaning "Spain Island"). 1502 officially became a Spanish colony. Due to smallpox, the Arawaks disappeared on the island. The Spanish trafficked a large number of black slaves from Africa, which led to the blacks gradually becoming the main body of the region.

Not only Haiti, but also many small islands in the Caribbean became colonies of western powers after15th century. Colonists trafficked a large number of black slaves from Africa, making the blacks on the island an absolute majority, and the original aborigines are now few.
