Because on this day 24 years ago, President Ho Chi Minh announced the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in Hanoi, and this day was also designated as Vietnam National Day.
Unfortunately, on this day, President Ho Chi Minh died of illness and left Vietnam and his beloved Vietnamese people forever.
At that time, the relationship between New China and Vietnam was in the honeymoon period, so after Ho Chi Minh's death, the news was passed to Wang Youping, the ambassador of New China to Vietnam.
Wang Youping immediately reported the bad news to Premier Zhou Enlai. When Premier Zhou was informed, he immediately instructed Wang Youping not to do two things.
What instructions did Premier Zhou give to Wang Youping?
This starts with the story of Ho Chi Minh and Zhou Enlai.
1890 On May 9th, Ho Chi Minh was born in a teacher's family in Jinlian Village, Anantan County, Yi 'an.
Ho Chi Minh, formerly known as Nguyen, is patriotic. The name Ho Chi Minh was a pseudonym he used to resist Japan during World War II until his death.
Like Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and other staunch Marxist fighters, Ho Chi Minh was ambitious in his childhood. At that time, Vietnam was under the shadow of French colonial rule. At that time, Ho Chi Minh was determined to drive away the French invaders and completely liberate his compatriots.
1905, Ho Chi Minh, who was still studying Chinese studies in Hue, secretly participated in the anti-French movement and contacted some patriots at that time.
Six years later, Ho Chi Minh dropped out of school and went to a private school as a teacher.
Ho Chi Minh, who is in a private school, has not forgotten his ambition. He really hopes that he can study in western countries in order to find a way to save the country and the people.
19 1 1 At the end of the year, Ho Chi Minh went to work as a chef's assistant on a French merchant ship under the pseudonym of Sam and temporarily left Vietnam.
In this way, Ho Chi Minh followed the merchant ships to France, Britain, the United States and other western countries.
During this period, Ho Chi Minh worked hard to learn foreign languages, made extensive contacts with foreigners and explored the national conditions of various countries.
19 17, Ho Chi Minh came to France, joined the French Socialist Party and founded the Vietnam Patriots Association.
/kloc-joined the French production party at the end of 0/920, becoming the first Vietnamese party member. Two years later, at 1922, Ho Chi Minh met Zhou Enlai and others who were working and studying in France.
Ho Chi Minh and Zhou Enlai have many similarities.
First of all, both of them are Asians and have Asian descent;
Secondly, it is also separated only by a strip of water in culture;
Third, and most importantly, both of them believe in * * * productism and want to find a reliable road to national liberation.
So the two chatted very speculatively in the conversation and gradually regarded each other as bosom friends. Especially in Europe, thousands of miles away, the blessing of fellow villagers' friendship soon made them friends who talked about everything.
Since Ho Chi Minh arrived in France earlier than Zhou Enlai and was older than Zhou Enlai, Zhou Enlai always regarded Ho Chi Minh as his eldest brother.
On the recommendation of Ho Chi Minh, Zhou Enlai immediately joined the French Production Party.
However, their fate and friendship did not stop there. At that time, Ho Chi Minh never thought that one day, he would fall into the hands of the Kuomintang, not to mention that Zhou Enlai would rescue himself from the quagmire.
Twenty years later, at the end of August, 1942, Ho Chi Minh was intercepted by the Kuomintang township police in Debao County, Guangxi.
After checking the documents carried by Ho Chi Minh one by one, the township police found that most of the documents carried by Ho Chi Minh had expired, so they seized them.
Two days later, on August 29th, Ho Chi Minh was escorted to Jingxi County. Jingxi authorities turned Ho Chi Minh into an important suspect, and then escorted him to Guilin Camp of the Military Commission of the National Government for further examination.
During this period, Ho Chi Minh tried his best to communicate with the Kuomintang, but it ended in vain.
Ho Chi Minh in prison was held as a political prisoner by the Kuomintang authorities.
According to Ho Chi Minh's later memories, he was locked up with drug addicts and sexually transmitted diseases. There are too many people in the cell to lie down. In desperation, Ho Chi Minh had to sit on the toilet and rest.
Living in this environment, the physical and mental harm to Ho Chi Minh can be imagined.
In this way, from1August 29th, 942 to1September 29th, 943, Ho Chi Minh was detained by the Kuomintang authorities for one year on an "unwarranted" charge.
During this period, Ho Chi Minh was detained in Jingxi, Tiandong, Long 'an and other places in Guangxi 13 county 13 prison.
The news that Ho Chi Minh was arrested and imprisoned was finally learned by the Central Committee of Vietnam. The worried Central Committee of Vietnam contacted the Kuomintang authorities to try to find out the whereabouts of Ho Chi Minh.
However, the Kuomintang turned a deaf ear to this. In desperation, the Vietnamese Central Committee had to turn to the China Production Party for help.
Yan 'an immediately telegraphed the matter to Zhou Enlai in Chongqing, asking Zhou Enlai to find a way to rescue Ho Chi Minh.
After a series of mediation, Zhou Enlai finally rescued Ho Chi Minh from prison on September 1943.
Ho Chi Minh, who saw the light of day, finally regained his freedom. Later, Ho Chi Minh was very moved when he learned that his rescue had been helped by Zhou Enlai. He couldn't help but sigh: "China-Vietnam friendship is profound, and comrades and brothers."
Time is coming soon 1949. After nearly a hundred years of humiliation, China finally ushered in the great victory of the new-democratic revolution. On June 10, Mao Zedong solemnly announced the establishment of the new China on the Tiananmen rostrum, and the people of China finally looked forward to the long-awaited peace and stability.
However, at this time, Vietnam fought against the French invaders. Although the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was established in 1945 under the leadership of Ho Chi Minh, it was interfered by the French invaders, so Ho Chi Minh once again led the Vietnamese people to rise up against the French aggressors to the end.
1950 1, Ho Chi Minh secretly visited China, seeking new China's assistance to Vietnam in fighting against the French invaders.
At that time, Mao Zedong was visiting the Soviet Union. After asking Mao Zedong for instructions, Zhou Enlai and Ho Chi Minh went to see Stalin together. The four agreed on the important issue of * * * aid to Vietnam.
During his stay in the Soviet Union, Zhou Enlai, as always, showed special concern and care for his big brother Ho Chi Minh, and strongly supported his efforts to lead the Vietnamese people in the anti-French struggle.
According to historical records, at the beginning of the founding of New China, a great deal of aid was given to the Vietnam War against France.
As far as various materials are concerned, there are more than 5 million tons of grain, more than 30 thousand cars, more than 2 million tons of gasoline and hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign exchange. At the same time, Chen Geng and other senior generals were sent to Vietnam to help the Vietnamese army fight.
With the support of New China, the Vietnamese People's Army, like a shot in the arm, gave the French aggressor troops a head-on blow.
1In July, 954, the Geneva Conference held in Switzerland adopted the Final Declaration of the Geneva Conference, which made the national sovereignty of Vietnam and other countries recognized, which marked the great victory of Vietnam's anti-French war and completely shattered the French conspiracy to colonize Vietnam.
China's boycott of legal aid has made the Vietnamese represented by Ho Chi Minh feel much better about China and deeper about the older generation of leaders such as China and Zhou Enlai.
According to historical records, after 1950, Ho Chi Minh made many public or secret visits to China.
Facing Ho Chi Minh's many visits to China, Zhou Enlai never forgot his big brother.
Knowing that Ho Chi Minh likes apples made in China, Zhou Enlai always tries his best to get good apples and deliver them to Ho Chi Minh as quickly as possible.
Knowing that Ho Chi Minh likes smoking, in order to reduce the harm of smoking to Ho Chi Minh's health, Zhou Enlai tried his best to get China-made Zhonghua brand and Panda brand cigarettes for Ho Chi Minh. ......
According to historical records, during his visit to China, Ho Chi Minh visited many provinces in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Xinjiang and Hainan. It can be said that among all foreign heads of state visiting China, Ho Chi Minh left the most footprints.
After 1960, Ho Chi Minh's physical condition began to deteriorate and he had to rest and recover.
1955+0 1 When the Vietnam War broke out in June, it was difficult for medical conditions in Vietnam to provide a quiet environment for Ho Chi Minh. Then, after 1963, Ho Chi Minh secretly came to China to recuperate under the pseudonym "Ding Lao".
Zhou Enlai welcomes Ho Chi Minh to China to recuperate. At the same time, he also carefully selected a medical team for Ho Chi Minh, worked out a detailed treatment plan for Ho Chi Minh, and needed medicines and medical equipment.
But by 1969, Ho Chi Minh's health began to deteriorate and his condition became more and more serious.
According to historical records, after Ho Chi Minh's health deteriorated, according to his request, New China sent four top medical teams from China to Vietnam to treat Ho Chi Minh.
Ho Chi Minh's body, especially his heart, is already very fragile because of the perennial revolutionary war.
1March, 969, Ho Chi Minh suffered a heart attack. When New China was informed, he immediately selected the top doctors in China to form a medical team and ordered them to go to Vietnam immediately for consultation with Ho Chi Minh.
1April 2, 969, Ho Chi Minh called the Central Committee, saying that the Vietnamese people would never forget China's help to Vietnam, and highly praised and recognized China's assistance to Vietnam.
However, to everyone's surprise, this is the last telegram sent by Ho Chi Minh to the Central Committee of China.
Fortunately, after the medical team arrived in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh was pulled back from the death line after three months of hard work.
Later, after hearing that Ho Chi Minh was in good health, Zhou Enlai specially entrusted a medical team to bring two Peking Duck to Ho Chi Minh during his second visit to Vietnam.
However, the good times did not last long. /kloc-in August of 0/5, Ho Chi Minh suddenly caught a cold. At this time, Ho Chi Minh was an old man who was nearly eighty years old. Besides, he is very ill. An ordinary cold is a fatal blow to the dying old man.
Eight days later, on the 23rd, Ho Chi Minh's heart disease worsened again, accompanied by bronchitis symptoms.
The existence of two diseases tortured Ho Chi Minh to death. He once had difficulty breathing and even had symptoms of shock.
The next day, the Vietnamese government urgently summoned China's ambassador to Vietnam to inform him that Ho Chi Minh was critically ill and hoped that China would send medical experts to Vietnam to treat Ho Chi Minh.
After receiving the news, Zhou Enlai dare not neglect. He immediately selected the most powerful doctors in China at that time, formed two medical teams and sent them to Vietnam in two batches to save Ho Chi Minh's life. At the same time, he sent a special plane to deliver emergency medicine to Ho Chi Minh.
This time, however, Ho Chi Minh was not so lucky, and even the best doctors could do nothing.
1At 6 o'clock on September 2, 969, Ho Chi Minh fell into a state of dying, and the doctors next to him immediately rescued him. The whole rescue lasted for several hours.
1969 At 9: 47 on September 2, Vietnamese leader Du?n reluctantly ordered to stop the rescue, and Ho Chi Minh passed away forever at the age of 79.
Shortly after Ho Chi Minh's sudden death, Premier Zhou Enlai immediately telegraphed Wang Youping: First, don't contact Ho Chi Minh's medical team; Second, don't express condolences to Vietnam for the time being.
So, why did Zhou Enlai give these two instructions? What is the meaning behind this?
It turned out that when Ho Chi Minh's condition deteriorated in late August, Zhou Enlai was keenly aware that Ho Chi Minh was most likely to be run on, and most people were powerless.
The death of a head of state is a very important and sensitive topic for any country.
Due to the above considerations, Vietnam is bound to stick to Ho Chi Minh's death, and at the same time strictly block the news, and even temporarily detain the Vietnamese medical team, even if it is useless to contact the medical team at this moment.
Sure enough, shortly after Ho Chi Minh's death, the Vietnamese government negotiated with the China Embassy in Vietnam, asking the medical team not to leave the President's office for the time being and not to contact with the outside world.
Therefore, Zhou Enlai instructed Wang Youping not to contact the medical team for the time being.
In addition, the death of Ho Chi Minh not only brought great sorrow to the Vietnamese people, but also left a huge problem for the Vietnamese authorities:
The date of Ho Chi Minh's death occurred on1September 2, 969, which happened to be Vietnam's National Day. It seems inappropriate to celebrate the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC) warmly or mourn Ho Chi Minh sadly.
If Wang Youping goes to offer condolences on the day of Ho Chi Minh's death, it will inevitably put both sides in an extremely embarrassing situation. Therefore, Zhou Enlai instructed Wang Youping to wait and see for the time being, and not to express condolences to Ho Chi Minh until the Vietnamese side officially announced the news.
Fortunately, Vietnam quickly adjusted its strategy, postponed Ho Chi Minh's death by 24 hours, and announced it to the public at 9: 47 am on September 3, 1969, which perfectly avoided embarrassment, not only warmly celebrated the National Day, but also mourned for Ho Chi Minh the next day.
On the evening of September 3rd, Zhou Enlai led a delegation to Hanoi by special plane to pay tribute to Ho Chi Minh.
After expressing deep condolences over the death of Ho Chi Minh, Zhou Enlai personally asked Vietnam to pay an early visit to Ho Chi Minh's remains.
In view of the profound friendship between Ho Chi Minh and Zhou Enlai and the friendship between China and Vietnam, Zhou Enlai's request was affirmed by Vietnam.
At 7 pm the next day, Zhou Enlai and Ye Jianying came to the hospital to pay tribute to Ho Chi Minh's remains. They are the only foreign guests in Vietnamese history who paid tribute to Ho Chi Minh's remains before the farewell ceremony.
In the face of complicated diplomatic relations, Zhou Enlai can take it easy and foresee everything.
With keen insight, two instructions made by Ho Chi Minh shortly after his death perfectly avoided the embarrassing situation, which was very clever and became a much-told story in the diplomatic history of China and Vietnam.
