Hancheng belongs to Weinan City, Shaanxi Province. Hancheng is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Shaanxi Province. Weinan City Escrow. Hancheng has a long history and was known as "Longmen" during the Xia and Shang dynasties. The Western Zhou Dynasty was called Han (Hou) State, and later Liang (Bo) State. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, it was Shaoliang City. In the eleventh year of King Huiwen of Qin Dynasty (327 BC), Xiayang County was established. In the 18th year of Emperor Kaihuang's reign in the Sui Dynasty (598), it was renamed Hancheng County. There have been many changes since then. In the first year of Tiancheng (926), Emperor Mingzong of the Later Tang Dynasty, it was renamed Hancheng County, and there has been no change since then.
Hancheng is one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization and the hometown of Ma Qian of Shi Sheng Tai Shi Company. At the beginning of the Western Zhou Dynasty, King Wu of Zhou named his son Kang here and called it Han. At the turn of the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States, King Ping of Zhou named Kang, the son of Qin Zhong, here and called it Liang. During the Warring States, Qin established Xiayang County. In the 18th year of Emperor Kaihuang's reign in the Sui Dynasty (598), Hancheng County was established.
In January 1984, it was renamed Hancheng City. In 1985, it was listed as a city open to the outside world in Shaanxi Province. In 2006, it became the only city in Shaanxi that won the title of "China's Excellent Tourism City" as a county-level city.
Hancheng Geological Structure
Hancheng is located at the composite site of the eastern wing of the forearc of the Qilvhe Mountains-shaped structure and the third subsidence zone of the Neocathays tectonic system. Bounded by the northeast-southwest trending piedmont fault (i.e., the Hancheng fault), the southeastern part belongs to the Weifen graben, and the northwest part belongs to the northern Shaanxi basin margin fold area of ??the Ordos platform syncline. The structure is complex and the mineral resources are rich, so there are conditions for moderate to strong earthquakes to occur.

The terrain of Hancheng is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The deep mountains in the west are mostly beam-shaped ridges, generally with an altitude of more than 900 meters.
