Requirements for accompanying students studying in New Zealand
Many young students begin to plan to study abroad, but not all countries support the accompanying policy. New Zealand, which has launched a companion study policy, has been greatly favored by many students. New Zealand’s policy of accompanying students has always been more advantageous than other countries for studying abroad. Choosing to accompany students also needs to meet certain requirements. Let's take a look together.
1. Accompanying study policy in New Zealand
Accompanying visa is divided into parents accompanying their children to study, and one spouse accompanying the other parent to study. Parent-accompanied study means that one parent accompanies the child to school in New Zealand. Spouse-accompanied study means that one spouse is studying in New Zealand for a bachelor's degree or a master's degree in a major that is in short supply, and the other parent can work full-time in New Zealand. For the above two types of visas, the duration of the accompanying person’s visa is the same as the person being accompanied.
New Zealand has recently launched a series of new policies for studying abroad. For example, since 2013, students under the age of 13 who attend schools approved by the New Zealand Ministry of Education can be directly supervised by the school without the supervision of one parent.
Originally, many parents had to postpone their children’s study abroad plans because they could not give up everything in China to accompany their children to study. This new policy not only facilitates parents, but also enables young international students to achieve optimal development. Parents and students need to submit their request for guardianship to the school 6 months in advance before applying to the school, and entrust the school to find a suitable local guardian.
In addition, New Zealand’s new policy has also relaxed restrictions on work visas for international students and their spouses. For example, students applying for a pre-master's program or above can obtain an international graduate open work visa for 1 year after graduation. Students holding this visa can look for work within one year. As long as you sign a formal labor contract with a local employer, you can obtain a two-year work visa. The spouses of students who apply for postgraduate courses or above, or who study in occupations that are in long-term shortage, can obtain a work visa with no job type and no time limit.
The latest study abroad policy launched by New Zealand has greatly facilitated and brought benefits to students.
