May I not take the English exam?
IELTS is jointly organized by Cambridge University Examinations Board, British Council and Australian Agency for International Development Education. IELTS assesses candidates' language ability to study, train or live in English-speaking countries. At present, this test is also used as a proof of English proficiency of people applying for immigration to Commonwealth countries.
Ielts is a recognized language proficiency test for continuing education and colleges and universities. Many universities in Britain, Australia, New Zealand and North America, as well as many universities in non-English-speaking countries that teach some special courses in English, choose IELTS as the English proficiency test. Many large-scale training programs of international organizations often refer to this exam to decide training matters. Immigration authorities and various enterprises often use it to measure English fluency.
According to the statistics of the Cultural and Education Section of the British Consulate General in 2004, more and more high school students and college students take the IELTS test, not only to prepare for studying abroad, but also to really improve their English level and prepare for the college entrance examination and employment.
The IELTS test consists of four parts:
Listening has 4 sections, 40 questions and 30 minutes.
Read 3 parts, 40 items, 60 minutes.
Write two tasks (150&; 250 words) 60 minutes
Speak 10- 15 minutes.
Total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Ielts scoring standard
9 points: excellent grades, able to use English freely, accurately, fluently and completely.
8 points: Very good, can use English freely, but occasionally there are incoherent mistakes and inappropriateness.
7 points: Good, able to use English, generally able to master complex English.
6 points: pass, can use English effectively, can use and understand quite complicated English, especially if you are familiar with the situation.
5 points: pass, can use English partially, and should be able to master basic communication in their own field.
4 points: the level is limited, and the basic understanding is limited to familiar situations.
3 points: the level is extremely limited, and only general communication and understanding can be carried out under extremely familiar circumstances.
2 points: I only occasionally use English to express the most basic information with words and short sentences, and my oral English and writing have great obstacles.
1: I can't pass, maybe I can only speak a few words and can't communicate.
