Why do Indonesians look like us in China?

There are about 300 ethnic groups in Indonesia, of which about 99% are Mongolians (that is, yellow people) and a few are brown people, generally distributed in the easternmost part of the country bordering Papua New Guinea. Most Indonesians are descendants of Austronesian family, and the language they use can be traced back to the earliest Austronesian family, which originated in Taiwan Province. Another big ethnic group, melanesians, lives in eastern Indonesia.

Javanese are the largest ethnic group, accounting for 42% of Indonesia's population, while Sunda, Madura and Malays are the largest non-Javanese ethnic groups, and Indonesian Chinese only account for about 3-4% of the population. Although the number of Malays is small, they are the most widely distributed. Malays live on the eastern coast of Sumatra, the coast of kalimantan island and the offshore islands between the two islands.

Except for some ethnic groups in New Guinea, most ethnic groups in Indonesia today are descendants of immigrants. The earliest immigrants to Indonesia were the Vader (a minority in Sri Lanka in South Asia), who probably migrated to Indonesia during the Quaternary Ice Age. Around 1500 BC, Mongolians in the southern part of the Asian continent migrated to Indonesia. These ethnic groups are called primitive Malays. They settled in coastal areas and drove the Vader people out of the mountains. The Badakhs in modern Sumatra, the Daya in Kalimantan and the Toracha in Sulawesi are all descendants of primitive Malays. Between 300 and 200 BC, another group of immigrants came from the southern part of the Asian continent. Archaeologists call them new Malays, and their physical characteristics are the same as those of primitive Malays. After they settled in Indonesia, they assimilated some primitive Malays and pushed others to the mainland. Today's Javanese, Sunda, Madura, Balinese, Malays and other ethnic groups are descendants of Malays and Malays.
