Chiayi’s population
More than three hundred years ago, Chiayi County was originally the center of the aboriginal Pingpu people, and the place was named Zhuluo Mountain (or Zhuluo Mountain). Luo changed his name to Chiayi, which is still used today. The ancestral origins of Chiayi County residents are mostly immigrants from Quanzhou, Fujian; Alishan Township is the hometown of the Tsou Aboriginal people. Every February, the sacred Tsou people’s war ceremony is held grandly in Dapang Village to leave a lasting impression on the Aboriginal culture. Beautiful poem on the next page.
