Difference:

TOEFL and IELTS are both necessary language tests for going abroad. IELTS pays more attention to application, and its vocabulary is not so high compared with TOEFL. TOEFL is a little more academic. In addition, IELTS listening, writing and reading are all written tests, and oral English is interviewed one-on-one with foreign teachers. TOEFL is all in the form of computer test. There are also great differences in the types of exams. TOEFL is relatively simple, and multiple-choice questions dominate the world. But IELTS listening includes fill-in-the-blank questions, chart questions, map questions, sentence completion, answering questions, single choice, multiple choice, flow chart ... Reading has judgment, paragraph completion, selection, flow chart, paragraph title selection and so on.

If you want to study in North America, it is recommended to take the TOEFL, because North America pays more attention to TOEFL scores, and most schools have higher requirements for IELTS scores than TOEFL.

If you want to study in countries outside North America (Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, etc.), it is recommended to take IELTS. Moreover, if you apply to a British school now, you can't use TOEFL scores any more.

Examination content:

The new TOEFL test consists of four parts. The contents of the new TOEFL test are reading, listening, speaking and writing. The full score of each part is 30 points, and the full score of all the questions is 120.

I. Reading: There are three articles.

The new TOEFL reading does not require candidates to read the whole article before answering the questions. Candidates do this kind of problem in order to read the article in sections in the process of doing it. Each article has eleven corresponding questions, all of which are multiple choice questions, but the last question is not multiple choice questions. Each multiple-choice question is aimed at a certain part of the article, and the order in which the questions appear is the same as that of the paragraphs in the article. The last question is a question about the whole article, asking candidates to choose several options to summarize or summarize the whole article. The length of the new generation of TOEFL reading articles is slightly longer than that of the old version, and the difficulty is also increased. The duration of this section is 1 hour, during which candidates can review and modify the submitted answers.

Second, listening: the short dialogue is cancelled.

It consists of two long campus situational dialogues and four classroom speeches, each lasting about 5 minutes. Because it is a computer test, candidates can't know the test questions before listening to the recorded materials. When playing the recorded data, the corresponding background picture will be displayed on the computer screen. Candidates can take notes while listening. Candidates cannot review and modify the submitted answers. This part lasts about 50 minutes.

Third, oral English: integrate TSE (oral English test) into the new TOEFL test.

There are 6 questions in the oral part of the new TOEFL test, and the total time is about 20 minutes. Questions 1 and 2 are independent answers. Preparation time 15 second, answer time 45 seconds. The question will be read out loud and appear on the screen. Questions 3 and 4 require candidates to read a short passage first, then listen to a listening material related to the reading content, and finally answer relevant questions as required. Usually one topic is a situational topic and the other is an academic topic. The reading material is a natural paragraph of 70- 100 words and the reading time is ***45 seconds. The listening material may be a dialogue or a speech, and the length is about 1 minute and a half, 150- 180 words. Candidates can take notes while listening to the tape to help answer questions. Candidates have 30 seconds to prepare and 60 seconds to answer questions. The topic requires candidates to summarize the speaker's point of view implied in the reading materials. Questions 5 and 6 are based on the listening materials in the exam and require candidates to answer related questions. Listening materials usually have a dialogue scene, which lasts 60-90 seconds; The other is to explain academic problems in class for 90- 120 seconds. Candidates can take notes while listening to the tape to help answer questions. Candidates have 20 seconds to prepare and 60 seconds to answer questions. The score for each answer is 0-4. Questions that examine comprehensive language skills are graded based on the quality, completeness and accuracy of the answers.

4. Writing requires candidates to complete two compositions within 1 hour.

One of them is similar to the old TOEFL, which requires candidates to explain their views on a topic within 30 minutes, and requires more than 300 words.

The other requires candidates to read an article first. After five minutes, the article disappears and the lecture related to the article is played. The lecture notes list some arguments to refute the arguments and arguments in the article. Then ask the candidates to write a composition within 20 minutes, summarize the arguments and arguments of the class speech, and state how these arguments and arguments refute the arguments and arguments of the article. The required number of words is between 150 and 225 words. When writing, the article will reappear on the screen. This composition does not require candidates to elaborate their views.

Fifth, try again. In the general practical examination, candidates often encounter additional questions in listening or reading, or both reading and listening may be added at the same time.
