Northeast literature is an important part of Northeast culture, and its main form is Chinese language and literature, so it is more directly influenced by Chinese culture and literature from the Central Plains than other aspects of Northeast culture. The history of literature in Northeast China began in the early days of Xia, Shang and Zhou slavery society, and it was not much behind the Central Plains. During this period, written records about Northeast Geography and Northeast Ethnic Groups appeared in ancient books and documents in China, and the Northeast was gradually understood by the people of the Central Plains, and the northeast ethnic groups established political tribute relations with the Central Plains Dynasty. Ji Zi used advanced slavery to transform the backward clan system, popularized production techniques in the mainland, and educated local people with poems, books, rituals and music. He was the first person to spread and develop the Central Plains culture in Northeast China at the end of Yin Dynasty and the beginning of Zhou Dynasty, which had a far-reaching influence on the development of the northeast nationalities in later generations and almost became the symbol of the beginning of ancient civilization in Northeast China. Some people say that Ji Zi is the first literati writer in Northeast China. According to this view, Ji Zi's coming to the East also marks the occurrence and beginning of Northeast literature. Ji Zi is the transplanter of Shang culture and the founder of Northeast literature, which shows that Northeast literature is based on the direct inheritance of Central Plains culture. With the formation and development of a unified multi-ethnic country since Qin and Han Dynasties, the political, economic and cultural ties between Northeast China and Central Plains have been strengthened day by day. The Central Plains culture has strongly promoted the social progress and national development in Northeast China, and the Han nationality has been moving northward and eastward, which has formed a Han nationality settlement dominated by mainlanders in the southern part of Northeast China, where the Central Plains culture has developed into a northeast culture and northeast literature with regional characteristics. After the Liao Dynasty, the northeast nationalities entered a period of great development, and they prospered one after another, constantly moving south and west, and boarded the political and historical stage of the Central Plains as the ruling nation. The process of ethnic development in Northeast China is usually accompanied by the assimilation and convergence of Chinese culture and between ethnic groups, which has formed the Northeast culture and Northeast literature with national characteristics.

Northeast literature is a multi-ethnic literature produced on the land of Northeast China.
