How much luggage do I need to take to study in Melbourne?

I went there on February 25th. I thought jeans+long T+ medium-thick coat would be fine. Just hold it on the airplane coat.

My father's colleague immigrated to Melbourne and just returned to China for the New Year. I went to their house the night before yesterday.
