On April 24th, Jing Junhai, Vice Governor of Shaanxi Province, visited Shenzhen Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station, and proposed that the Shaanxi provincial government should strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group, inspect Hanzhong, Ankang and other areas favorable to nuclear power projects as soon as possible, implement Shaanxi's nuclear energy development plan, and build the first nuclear power station in southern Shaanxi as soon as possible.

It will take at least eight years from planning to completion of a nuclear power plant.

On the morning of April 24th, Jing Junhai, Vice Governor of Shaanxi Province, visited Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station, the first nuclear power plant in China. Zhang Tao, deputy general manager of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group (hereinafter referred to as "CGNPC"), and Xiong Yin, deputy general manager of Daya Bay Nuclear Power Operation Management Co., Ltd., as operators of nuclear power plants, introduced the construction and operation of Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant to Jing Junhai in detail. Later, he accompanied Jing Junhai to visit the Daya Bay nuclear power plant and the second phase of Ling 'ao nuclear power plant under construction.

It is understood that China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group (CGNPC) is a national large-scale clean energy group focusing on nuclear power. It has advantages and strong strength in capital, talents, management and technology in the development, construction and operation of large-scale commercial nuclear power plants. In 2006, Guangdong Nuclear Power Group signed an agreement with Ankang City, Shaanxi Province to jointly build Baihe Hydropower Station, and the project has started construction. In 2007, at the Shaanxi-Guangdong-Hong Kong Investment and Trade Fair, Guangdong Nuclear Power Group and Ankang Municipal Government signed a framework agreement for joint development of nuclear power projects; During this year's Western Conference, the Shaanxi provincial government and China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group signed a framework agreement for cooperative development of Shaanxi energy projects, marking the increasingly mature cooperation between Shaanxi and China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group. Due to the good cooperation between the two sides, Guangdong Nuclear Power Group is also very willing to further strengthen cooperation with Shaanxi in nuclear energy development. Jing Junhai's visit to Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station aims to enhance communication between the two sides and further implement Shaanxi's nuclear energy development plan.

Jing Junhai suggested that through a comprehensive understanding of nuclear power generation and the operation of nuclear power plants, large central enterprises like China Guangdong Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. can go deep into Shaanxi for on-the-spot investigation and strive to select an area with nuclear energy development in Shaanxi as soon as possible. The Shaanxi provincial government will apply to the National Development and Reform Commission for the construction of nuclear power plants and implement Shaanxi's nuclear energy construction plan.

It is understood that up to now, it will take at least eight years to build a nuclear power plant in China, from pre-planning to site selection, to approval and construction.

Some areas in southern Shaanxi basically have the conditions for building stations.

The reporter learned from the relevant departments that the most difficult thing to build a nuclear power plant is site selection. Areas that meet the construction conditions of nuclear power plants shall at least meet the following conditions:

1. Geological requirements: There has never been a serious earthquake disaster in the history of this area, which is located on hard hornfels and granites, and the zone is intact and unbroken.

2. Resource requirements: The nuclear power plant needs a lot of fresh water during its operation, so the site should be selected in an area rich in fresh water resources. In addition, the region should also have the transportation conditions needed to transport nuclear materials.

3. Land requisition: As the construction of nuclear power plants requires a lot of land, land requisition and resettlement will also become an important task of the local government.

At present, parts of Hanzhong and Ankang, two municipal districts at the southern foot of the Qinling Mountains in Shaanxi Province, basically have favorable conditions for building nuclear power generation facilities. These areas are not only rich in water resources, but also rich in uranium ore and mineral processing resources, which is very beneficial to the construction of nuclear power plants. The relevant person in charge of China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group also said that it will inspect the area as soon as possible, and strive to get a preliminary report in August this year, and release a feasibility report on the construction of nuclear power plants in southern Shaanxi next June.
