What happened in Washington, Resident Evil?

In the movie, Veske betrayed everyone again, leading to the failure of the mission and the destruction of Washington.

At the end of resident evil 5: Grave Defense, the surviving humans gather in Washington, D.C. to resist zombies. Resident Evil 6 didn't happen at the beginning because Westcott betrayed again, and all the people gathered in Washington, D.C. except Alice were wiped out.
