Which province does Sui 'an belong to?
More than 40 years ago, Chun 'an and Sui 'an, two ancient cities with a history of 1800 years, were completely submerged when Xin 'anjiang Reservoir was built. Recently, the relevant departments found that these two ancient cities may be the most complete and largest ancient architectural complex discovered in China.
Diver: This city brick was found 32 meters underwater. There is a big brick like this in that place. After a period of time, it was relatively broken, belonging to the Qianlong period and was not completely preserved.
Reporter: What else did you find underwater?
Diver: When I first went down, I found the wall of Sui 'an County 30 meters deep. The city gate was found at about 50 meters, and the hole in the city gate and the wooden door in the city gate were well preserved.
According to historical records and divers diving for more than a dozen times, it took the relevant departments nearly a year to finally find the lion city, the former county seat of Sui 'an County, in the spearhead waters about 40 kilometers away from Qiandao Lake Town. The underwater camera carried by the diver recorded the whole process of finding the ancient underwater city. From the pictures taken, we can clearly see that a city wall appears in front of us after passing through a messy brick. The wall of the city wall is very high, about 3 meters high, and the surface is very flat. The traces of excavation on the stone are clearly visible. There are also doornails and iron rings embedded in the city gate. Into the city gate, dive deeper, and a residential building appeared not far away. Although the brick walls and wooden windows are covered with algae, the whole building is still intact, the wooden stairs in the room are still standing, and the furniture is still in its original position. The exquisite wood carvings on the eaves show us the exquisite craftsmanship of the craftsmen at that time and tell us the prosperity of the Lion City. When the diver finished his task and was ready to float, he accidentally found a Ming Dynasty stone tablet about 32 meters deep in this dive. Because the diver's flippers touched the mud at the bottom of the water, we couldn't see clearly what was written on the stone tablet.
Because the water depth here has exceeded 30 meters, divers can't stay for a long time. After completing the investigation within 50 meters of Fiona Fang near the city gate, he surfaced. After determining the specific location of the Lion City this time, relevant departments will prepare to carry out large-scale inspection activities. Observe the present situation of the ancient city and carry out protective excavation of underwater cultural relics. A larger-scale underwater exploration of he cheng, the ancient county town of Chun 'an, will also begin in the near future.
background introduction
Chun' an County, about 1800 years ago, has a long history and a rich collection of humanities, and is known as "a beautiful scenery and a famous literary country". Throughout the ages, it has attracted many scholars and left many masterpieces and rich cultural relics.
The present Chun 'an County was formed by the merger of An County and Sui 'an County in Gu Chun. Two ancient cities located on Xin 'an River in Zhejiang Province were built in 208 AD. In the Ming Dynasty, Hairui served as a county magistrate in Chun 'an for four years, and later generations built Hairui Temple in memory of him. Zhu Zeng, a philosopher, gave a lecture at Yingshan Academy here, leaving a famous sentence: "Ask where the canal is so clear that there is flowing water at the source." Poets such as Li Bai and Lu You also have an indissoluble bond with the landscape here. In the Ming Dynasty, with the rise of Huizhou merchants, these two ancient cities also ushered in their heyday.
Chun 'an County borders Anhui, and its upstream borders Shexian County, Anhui Province. This is Xin 'anjiang River, and its downstream reaches Qiantang River, where it joins the sea. Ming and Qing dynasties were very prosperous. The integration of Huizhou merchants' culture and Jiangnan culture has left precious things for the old county town of Chun 'an, whether it is architecture or other cultures. Including the combination of Huizhou architecture and Jiangnan architecture, as well as the characteristic culture created by the combination of this culture and Xin' an culture, as well as some operas, which have also been handed down through the development of Huizhou merchants.
Lion City in Sui 'an County covers an area of more than 400,000 square meters, with at most 1 1,000 households. The city wall was built in the period of Zhengde in Ming Dynasty. There are many historic sites in the city and a large-scale archway group. The archway is made of exquisite materials, mostly masonry structure with four columns, three doors and three floors. In addition, there are contiguous mansions and ancient pagodas in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In he cheng, a large county town in Chun 'an, there are temples built in 280 AD. Due to the construction of Xin 'anjiang Reservoir, these two ancient cities sank into the water at 1959. The present situation of these underwater remains needs to be solved by the upcoming investigation activities.
