The Historical Evolution of Medog County

About 300 years ago, Memba people began to move into Medog from the front corner and the protagonist. Generation 12 was the first to arrive, and generation 8 was the last to emigrate.

At that time, King Bomi, who was a separatist party, took advantage of the struggle between Menba and Barrow, and successively established Didong religion and Galang Yang religion in Medog area, and his influence extended to Xialuoyu area, thus ruling Medog and the Grand Canyon area.

In the twenties and thirties of last century, the local government of Tibet sent troops to conquer again, defeated the king of Bomi soil, and completely wiped out the power of the king of Bomi soil. Medog was directly under the jurisdiction of the Tibetan government. Later, the local government of Tibet donated Didong Sect to the management of Sera Temple, which made great contributions during the elimination of King Bomi. Bangxin and Garasa were designated as fiefs of Qingduo Temple, and Zhu Jin was designated as fiefs of Guo Song Temple.

In the fourth year of Guangxu reign in Qing Dynasty (188 1), Wang Qiu Raodun, King of Garang (King Bomi), established Didong religion in the east in order to extend his ruling power to Baimagang. The first sect is Nuo Nuo La of the Menba nationality.

In the eighth year of the Republic of China (19 19), due to the lack of water in the eastern region, the religious government moved to Medog, and the eastern region was changed to Medog.

From the 16th year of the Republic of China (1927) to the 20th year (193 1), a war broke out between the Kasha government and King Bomi, and King Bomi was defeated. The Gaxia government divided Medog into Sera Monastery, Qingduo Monastery and Songzong Monastery, and the three monasteries established their own sects until Tibet was peacefully liberated.

1On August 5, 950, an earthquake measuring 8.5 on the Richter scale occurred in Medog County. The earthquake caused landslides, landslides and mudslides, and Medog was beyond recognition. On tens of thousands of square kilometers of land, about 4,000 people were killed in China and 4,000 in India.

1986 was placed under the jurisdiction of Linzhi area in February.

The origin of place names

Medog is called "Apollo Baimagang" in Tibetan Buddhist classics, which means "hidden lotus". According to legend, in the 9th century, Master Lotus Peanut was invited by Tubo Zapp Chisong Dêzain to go to the holy land of Xianshan. After arriving here, he found that the terrain here is like a blooming lotus with the image of a holy land, so he studied macro dharma here and named it "Baimagang".
