According to the Hunan Provincial Department of Water Resources, the Xiangxi Daxingzhai Reservoir is a water conservancy project located in the Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in western Hunan Province. It has functions such as flood control, water supply, and irrigation. The reservoir is located on the Dong River in the Yuanjiang River Basin and is a large (2) type II water conservancy project. Its normal water storage level is 310 meters and its total storage capacity is 111 million cubic meters. The resettlement areas of Daxingzhai Reservoir are distributed in Aizhai Town, Jishou City and Bulai Township, Huayuan County. This resettlement area is for the resettlement of residents for the construction of the reservoir to ensure the smooth progress of the project.
