Conversation with the Camera —— Impression of photographer Huang Zhengping

Have you ever seen the stocky Huang Zhengping?

This guy is not yet middle-aged, but he has "risen" in Central China. It seems that he was born unable to speak in a low voice and tossed into the air with "haha"; He loves to swing his arms when he walks, and suffers from splayed feet, because he has always been used to scurrying with the wind and always forgets who he is when he works.

He really lives in reality and writes all his joys and sorrows on his face. With him, you don't need to be defensive.

Huang Zhengping is young, but he has been fiddling with the camera since 1984 was listed in the preparation office of China Three Gorges Project Development Corporation. He is a veritable "old photographer". Twenty years have honed his temperament, and twenty years of wind and rain have cultivated his sentiment. He spoke to the camera with skillful skills and full enthusiasm, and reproduced many beautiful scenery of the Three Gorges and magnificent construction pictures of the Three Gorges Project for us.

? Interestingly, Huang Zhengping is a post-80s student of Wuhan Institute of Water Resources and Electric Power, majoring in "Power Generation and Distribution". Unexpectedly, he was assigned to the preparatory office of the Three Gorges Corporation and soon stopped "distributing electricity", but distributed TV "shots" and "films". The Three Gorges Project "150 Plan" ran aground in the1980s. According to Chen, director of the preparatory office, "the level remains unchanged, the salary remains unchanged, and people will not leave". Huang Zhengping and his disciples wandered around the Three Gorges with TV and movie cameras on their backs, insisting on the "eight-year war of resistance" until the Three Gorges Project was officially started at the end of 1994.

After eight years in the preparatory office, Huang Zhengping humbly asked for advice, assiduously studied photography, measured the Three Gorges land with his feet, and collected the mountains and rivers of the Three Gorges with his lens. He put the people's joys and sorrows into the lens and expressed them in a plain and solemn style.

The Three Gorges Project has been in operation for ten years. As a full-time photographer, Huang Zhengping is both a witness and a recorder, whether it is river closure, dam pouring, installation of mechanical and electrical equipment, navigation of ship locks, storage of reservoirs and power generation of units. His sweat solidified in the dam foundation pit and lock chamber; His footprints have been left in various counties and even many immigrant villages in the reservoir area.

Of course, he worked hard and gained joy!

There are many enviable "orphans" and "masterpieces" in more than a thousand photographs published by Huang Zhengping. There are many excellent photographers in China, only a few of them, Huang Zhengping, whose works are on the cover of Photography in China, so lucky. He said it should be attributed to the Three Gorges Project. He thanked the Three Gorges for giving him the enthusiasm for creation and the opportunity for success. He has won more than 10 provincial and ministerial photography awards, and he never wants to make public, which shows that this boy is humble and kind.

It is recognized that he is honest with others. Friends from various provinces and cities in China and local photography circles always welcome them with open arms whenever they come to the Three Gorges. As long as he doesn't violate discipline and his code of conduct, he won't let his friends down: you have nothing but me, take it!

He is also recognized as a "ghost" in artistic pursuit. In the autumn of 2003, he and several other people developed a book called "China Three Gorges Portrait", which is an ingenious aerial photography collection, splicing thousands of representative regional photos of the Three Gorges area into a realistic picture without distortion. Exhibition and observation are really exciting and imaginative.

It is difficult and lucky to evaluate Huang Zhengping's works. He made so many movies, what do I think of it as a layman? I think the picture is solemn and elegant, which is the characteristic of the Three Gorges and the pursuit of Huang Zhengping. His rigorous composition, harmonious layout and unique perspective are his rare internal qualities. The so-called painting is character, and the passionate photographer Huang Zhengping let us appreciate the strong masculine color in his works, and at the same time let us realize the beauty and rich cultural heritage of the Three Gorges.

There is no end to learning, and Huang Zhengping has enough energy to study hard and be good at learning. He is looking forward to doing something in new fields, and he will certainly make great progress in his TV film photography.
