Brief introduction of Dakai Reservoir

Dakaishui Reservoir was built in 1958 and put into storage in September 1965, with a storage capacity of 400 million cubic meters. It is the second largest reservoir in Guangxi, aiming at solving the problem of irrigation water for farmland in Xun Yu Plain. It is named after Shi Dakai, a famous general of Taiping Heavenly Kingdom and a native of Qishi Township. After the completion of the reservoir, great benefits have been brought into play, with an irrigation area of 486,700 mu, which has changed the difficult situation of farmland water use in Shilong, Xu Meng, Baisha, Houlu in Guiping and Qingfeng, Dawei, Gangcheng and Wu Le in the north of Ganggang, and turned Xunyu Plain into a granary in Guangxi. 12 has made great contributions to the construction of Dakai Reservoir, Kistler, Zhongli and Shilong. They not only made great efforts in the construction of the reservoir, but also flooded 128.2 square kilometers of land (including 4342 mu of cultivated land) and 36 104 square meters of houses after the completion of the reservoir, requiring the relocation of about 2,300 households10.5 million people.
