North Korea's Central Plains Immigration Conditions

Anyone familiar with the ancient history of China knows that ancient Korea was near the Central Plains, but it was not included in the national territory in other dynasties except the extremely powerful Tang Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty. Why is this? This is mainly because North Korea is remote, and controlling it requires a lot of manpower and material resources, far exceeding its economic value. In addition, North Korea has always had a good attitude towards the Central Plains, and it pays tribute every year. Therefore, the Central Plains dynasty only adopted a ruling policy towards North Korea, but did not incorporate it into its own territory.

All over the world, is it the land of kings? Although ancient China people had a strong sense of kingship. However, they are an intelligent people. They only regarded ancient Korea as a rule, but did not include it in the territory. There are several reasons.

First, if you want to occupy Korea, for the Central Plains dynasty with underdeveloped navigation, you can only cross the northeast. But in ancient times, there were many powerful ethnic minorities stationed in the northeast, such as Xianbei, Jurchen, Xiongnu, Qidan and Manchu. To occupy ancient Korea, we must first conquer them. However, it is extremely difficult to conquer them. Therefore, the powerful northeast minority regime has become one of the important reasons why North Korea was not annexed by the Central Plains Dynasty.

Second, the economic value is not great. The topography of the Korean peninsula is mainly mountainous and hilly areas, most of which are not suitable for farming. The Central Plains dynasty carried out the policy of attaching importance to agriculture. If it ruled ancient Korea, it would have to transport crops all the way from the Central Plains, which was a huge expense. After repeated weighing, I naturally disdained to occupy ancient Korea.

Third, ancient Korea had a relatively dense population and national unity. It is a country with independent schools and fighting capacity. It was not an easy task for the Central Plains Dynasty to occupy it, which cost a lot of manpower and material resources.

Fourth, ancient Korea, unlike other ethnic minority regimes, did not cross the Great Wall to the Central Plains to burn, kill and plunder, and committed various crimes. On the contrary, they are loyal to the Central Plains Dynasty and pay tribute to the capital every year to show their obedience to the court.

To sum up, the vast majority of Central Plains dynasties adopted a ruling policy towards ancient Korea, and they were able to live in harmony, rather than seizing it.
