The pride of Huludao people—Mother Guoguang, the master of optics

Mother Guoguang (1931-2012), male, Han nationality, was born in Jinxi, Liaoning in 1931, which is now Huludao City. From January 1986 to August 1995, he served as the president of Nankai University.

Professor Ma Guoguang has been engaged in scientific research and teaching of optics and applied optics for a long time. He has published more than 70 papers in core journals at home and abroad and achieved more than 10 major achievements. His main representative work is "Optics". His research on white light optical processing, optical pattern recognition, color film archival storage, black and white film for color photography, false color coding and optical neural networks have won multiple national awards and are generally recognized by the international optical community. He is the President of the People's Republic of China The Ministry of Personnel of the People's Republic of China awarded Professor Guoguang the title of expert with outstanding contributions.

On April 12, 2012, Professor Guoguang Mu passed away unfortunately due to ineffective treatment for his illness and his optical career. A scholar who "walked with light" left us with the regret of his hometown and the people of the whole country. He is a great loss to our country's optical industry.
