During the peasant uprising in the late Ming Dynasty, Sichuan people suffered numerous casualties. It is said that the uprising leader Zhang slaughtered most Sichuanese in Sichuan (nonsense from the Qing government, of course). The Qing government immigrated to Sichuan on a large scale from Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Guangdong and Guangxi, claiming that "Huguang fills Sichuan!"
