1. From April 1, student visas do not need to be processed through the school.

Since March, 2020, students must apply for entry permit from the Ministry of Education (MOE) of Singapore through universities. However, with the vaccination, the international epidemic situation has gradually improved, and this application process will be simplified. From April 1, students can apply for entry permits directly on the website of the Safe Travel Office (STO) of the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Bureau (ICA).

1, student visa application simplified

Starting from April 1, students need to apply for permission to enter Singapore on their own websites, not through universities. According to their planned enrollment date, students can apply at most two months in advance.

In addition, due to the limited number of entry permits in the same period, eligible applicants will be approved on a first-come-first-served basis. If the application places are full within the selected admission period, students will be prompted to choose another date before paying.

Then, eligible applicants will be prompted to pay (if necessary), and students will receive an Admission Approval Letter (ALE) immediately after the payment is successful. The entry approval is valid for one week (that is, Monday to Sunday of the week in which the travel date is located).

Please also note that the fee is non-refundable after payment. Please plan ahead when you apply for entry.

The website of the Singapore Safe Travel Office will be updated soon, so that students can apply for entry permits themselves on the website. From April 1, 202 1, students can visit the website for relevant information.

Beginners need not worry. The Ministry of Education of Singapore will provide operational guidelines to help students apply for entry permits themselves. And set up a centralized hotline and consultation platform, students can directly consult or write down special requirements/complaints (such as financial exemption, special medical conditions for home notification arrangements).

2. Student visa application process

Singapore student visa is divided into two steps, namely IPA (in principal approval entry permit) and STP(STP) student pass permit. After getting the offer from the target institution, the school will send a detailed email about applying for a visa. Students only need to fill in the form and pay fees according to the requirements of the school, and then wait for the approval of the Ministry of Education and the Immigration Bureau.

STP student pass

IPA is only valid for 30 days, which means that students need to complete the procedures such as student registration and physical examination. Within 30 days after entering the country, then make an appointment at ICA Immigration Bureau in exchange for STP student ID card, which is the identity certificate of the students during their study in Singapore.

To change STP, the required materials are trivial, including: passport, IPA, entry medical examination results, recent passport size photos, entry cards received on the plane when entering the country, etc. Students need to prepare according to the list of materials provided by ICA.

3. Family companionship policy

In addition to STP and IPA holders themselves, accompanying family members who plan to enter Singapore with long-term or short-term travel passes are also eligible to apply for entry through STO website, as long as the following conditions are met.

Conditions:

/kloc-Parents/guardians of STP holders aged 0/9 and below (only one adult family member is allowed in each family);

Brothers and sisters aged 6 and under;

Spouses or children (that is, immediate family members) of STP holders who are currently studying in graduate schools.

Please note that family members must travel with STP or IPA holders to qualify for the application, and the travel dates must be the same. Each application allows up to 3 people, and each family can have up to 1 non-STP holders.

If STP is still valid and has not been awarded a degree, you can still apply for entry permit through STO website.

General process of applying for a study visa in Singapore
