What is the capital of Sri Lanka?

Colombo is the commercial capital of Sri Lanka, located on the southwest coast of Ceylon Island, bordering on the Indian Ocean and bounded by the Karenni River in the north. As the gateway of Sri Lanka, it is called the "Oriental Crossroads". It is the largest city and commercial center in Sri Lanka, an important port in the Indian Ocean and a world-famous artificial seaport.

Colombo's name comes from the Sinhalese word Kola-amba-thota, which means "Mango Harbor". Later, in order to commemorate Columbus, the Portuguese spelled it Colombo.

Haramahad Park and De Svara Tropical Zoo are famous places to watch plants and animals. The International Conference Building is a white octagonal building with unique features. Six kilometers to the east, Kurt was originally the capital of the kingdom of Kurt.
