As early as 6,000-7,000 years ago, the island was inhabited. Since the Neolithic Age, four sites and ancient buildings have been discovered, including Nanshan Site in Dongcun and Santiaogou Site in Beicun, among which Dongcun Site can be compared with Xi 'an Banpo Site. More than a dozen surname groups on the island immigrated from Jiaodong during the reign of Kangxi and the early years of Qianlong, and the earliest immigrants came to the island nearly 300 years ago.

Before the Republic of China, Daqin Island was under the jurisdiction of Penglai County, the state capital. 1958 belongs to Long Island Commune, 1962 belongs to Qindao Commune, 1984 established Qindao Township, and 1985 changed its name to Daqin Island Township. 1997, with an area of 6.4 square kilometers and a population of 5,000, governs four administrative villages: Dongcun, Xiaohao Village, Beicun and Nancun. From June 5438 to February 2000, Daqin Island Township was abolished, and Daqin Island District Office was established in the original administrative area of Daqin Island Township, and the district office was located in the original Daqin Island Township Government. In February, 2003, Daqin Island Office was abolished and Daqin Island Township was established, which was under the original Daqin Island Office. The township government is stationed in the former Daqin Island office.
