Old Huang immigrants
At the southern foot of Yanshan Mountain, at the foot of the Great Wall, about 65 kilometers away from downtown Beijing, there is a small village called Liudu River.
The small village is rich in Yanshan chestnut with bright color and sweet taste, and has the reputation of "the first chestnut village in the suburbs of Beijing"
It can be called "the first" and the output is natural and reasonable. In a good year, the output of chestnut in this small village with only more than 500 people is as high as1.2000 kg.
In addition to yield, there is also a long history of growing chestnuts here. As early as the Warring States Period, chestnuts had been planted in Yan Di, where both capital city was located. Sima Qian's "Historical Records" contains: "Anyi thousand trees jujube, Yanqin thousand trees chestnut ..."
From logging and charcoal burning to chestnut trees all over the mountain
Although there were chestnut trees in the location of Liuduhe Village during the Warring States Period, it was not until the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty that Liuduhe talents were really widely planted and made a living.
The ancestors of Liuduhe people immigrated from Shanxi in the early Ming Dynasty. Liudu River, located in the mountainous area, has no arable land, so it is difficult to produce food. People cut down trees and burn kilns to make a living by selling charcoal.
It was not until the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty that the imperial court ordered the planting of trees in Jiubian that the Ming garrison began to plant chestnut trees in Mutianyu Great Wall not far from Liudu River, from which the ancestors of Liudu River learned planting techniques.
Due to the special geological and climatic conditions, chestnuts produced here are especially sweet and waxy, which are very famous in Beijing and even became court tributes in the Qing Dynasty.
Relying on small chestnuts, Liuduhe people got rid of the days of logging and burning charcoal, and the small mountain village with black smoke became a paradise full of chestnuts.
When the road is clear, the market will be clear.
However, the barrier of mountains and inconvenient transportation have always restricted the development of villages.
In the 1990 s, there was a road in the village that could lead to the outside of the mountain, but the road was only over one meter wide and could only be taken by carriage.
At that time, a carriage could pull 3,000 Jin of chestnuts, but the output of chestnuts in the village has reached more than 500,000 Jin. It is impossible to transport such a large weight by carriage alone.
Looking at Lizishan, Liuduhe people can't sit still and have to build roads.
However, at that time, the village collective had no income, so we had to find a way to build roads ourselves. At that time, the village party secretary raised funds through loans, and the villagers brought their own dry food and sold their strength with steel hammers.
It only took half a year for the rugged path to be widened into a flat avenue.
From then on, the villagers no longer have to go out to sell chestnuts. Every harvest season, vendors drive trucks directly into the village to buy.
Agricultural products in the village are shipped out, and talents and funds from outside are gradually introduced. Since then, the small mountain village has embarked on the road of development.
Scientific planting, small years become rich years.
At 200 1, a chestnut experimental station was established in Huairou, and a large number of skilled and experienced technicians went down to the fields.
However, the new technicians met with a "cold shoulder". Because as soon as they came, the villagers cut down many branches of chestnut trees.
In the traditional consciousness of villagers, more branches mean more fruits, and cutting them will not affect the harvest.
Later, under the persuasion of Lao Huang, a village doctor trusted by the villagers, some people gradually agreed to try.
And this is a great attempt to increase production and income and improve quality. Liuduhe people who tasted the sweetness began to trust the power of scientific planting.
In recent years, the experimental station put forward the plan of grafting new varieties on the century-old chestnut tree, and Lao Huang also grafted his own chestnut tree.
According to the laws of nature, chestnuts were harvested in different years. In the new year, the chestnut trees of Lao Huang's family can harvest 12000 kilograms, and the second year's output will be halved.
After adopting the new grafting scheme, the annual harvest of Lao Huang also exceeded 10 thousand Jin. The fruits of scientific planting have turned a small year into a bumper year.
After entering the new century, Huairou began to build the Yanshan chestnut planting area as a whole, with Lihua Valley as the main body, and built an eight-kilometer country road through Liuduhe Village. The development of regional tourism has greatly promoted the tourism industry in Liuduhe village, and the villagers' lives are getting richer and richer.
At 20:00 tonight, lock CCTV4 and go to Liudu River at the foot of Yanshan Mountain to see the chestnut trees and the sea all over the mountain.
