The population of Nantong farm

Total population of the farm 14836 (end of year 1987), including 9028 employees. There were 256 employees at the beginning (1958), and then they immigrated from Nantong County every year. From 1964 to 1974, the farm has received and resettled people from Nanjing, Xuzhou, Suzhou, Wuxi, Zhenjiang, Changzhou, Lianyungang, Nantong and Yangzhou.

There are more than 3,000 educated youths in cities and counties, with a total population of 20,794 in 1970.

From 1964 to 1974, the farm has taken in more than 3,000 educated youths from Suzhou, Changzhou, Wuxi, Nanjing, Yangzhou, Xuzhou and Lianyungang. After the educated youth arrived at the farm, they began to be arranged in the second branch with better conditions. Later, with the increase of the number of people, each team successively placed educated youth to participate in productive labor. After training, there were 6,500 educated youth. 1978 to 1979, young intellectuals returned to the city. According to statistics, 92 people returned to Nanjing, Suzhou 1548, Zhenjiang 10 1 person, Wuxi 200, Changzhou 755 and Nantong 649.
