What are the characteristics of Shaanxi people's speech?

Shaanxi is divided into three major dialect areas: Guanzhong dialect area (belonging to Central Plains Mandarin area), Northern Shaanxi dialect area (belonging to Jin dialect area) and Southern Shaanxi dialect area (belonging to Southwest Mandarin area).

Guanzhong dialect is one of the most representative dialects in northwest China, which is divided into Xi 'an dialect, Dongfu dialect and Xifu dialect. Guanzhong dialect is the oldest language in China, and there are many shadows of ancient Chinese. The ancient Guanzhong dialect is the official language of China. Shanxi dialect in northern Shaanxi contains rich dialect resources. Shanxi dialect in northern Shaanxi is significantly different from the adjacent Central Plains Mandarin in pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar, showing unique regional characteristics. Southern Shaanxi dialect is an immigrant dialect such as Southwest Mandarin (commonly known as Sichuan dialect), Hunan dialect and Gan dialect, including Hanzhong and Ankang.

In addition, in the early Qing Dynasty, Cantonese (Hakka dialect) migrated to Sichuan and southern Shaanxi and became popular in Shangluo.
