The time and cost of studying for an engineering master's degree in the UK or the United States
Some graduate schools in the United States require applicants to issue a financial guarantee letter to show that the applicant has sufficient funds to maintain normal study and life at school. If the school provides scholarships (grants), no financial guarantee is required. If the financial aid provided by the school is insufficient, you still need to find a financial guarantee to make up for the shortfall. The guarantor is preferably a relative or friend who has settled in the United States or a US citizen. It can also be a relative or friend who has settled abroad or in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The guarantor must fill out Form 1-134 issued by the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (which can be obtained from the local U.S. embassy or consulate), and attach bank deposit certificates, tax returns, annual income certificates, etc.
The fees for each school in each region are different. Probably between 100,000 and 170,000 yuan.
Students studying in the United States can work up to 20 hours a week as long as they hold an F-1 study visa.
In the UK, it is more expensive, 200,000-260,000 yuan per year.
The tuition fees in the UK are not lower than those in the United States. Even for a one-year master's degree in the UK, the total cost is less. However, if you consider the quality of education, scientific research, and the recognition of your diploma, you should still choose to study in the United States.
