Why are Colombia and Venezuela in South America one country?

Historically, there once was a Republic of Greater Colombia (Spanish: Repú blica de Colombia) located in South America between1819-1831. Its fields include Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Panama. In order to distinguish it from the Republic of Colombia today, people later called it the Republic of Greater Colombia.

Great Colombia was founded in the struggle against Spanish colonial rule and for national independence. Simó n Bolí var joined forces with Venezuela and New Granada to establish the Republic of Colombia. Due to internal contradictions, Venezuela and Ecuador successively withdrew from the alliance during the period of 1829- 183 1, and Bolí var died and Great Colombia disintegrated.
