Golden Hair-Home Visit to Bing Xin and Before and After

Zhao Laijing, an overseas Chinese woman writer living in Switzerland, offered to meet Bing Xin. I accompanied her to see Bing Xin and made a home visit.

Zhao and Chen Ruoxi, a tourist beauty writer, hooked up, as if things had decided that Zhao would be "abused" from the beginning. When I received the news that Ms. Zhao was coming to visit, I had this premonition subconsciously. Both of them are one of the few overseas Chinese writers in the 1980s, and both of them are women.

1April, 985, Chen Ruoxi came to Beijing one year earlier than Zhao, and was a guest of our Chinese Writers Association. Chen Yilai offered to see Hu Yaobang. Because Chen has a special background and is a cooperative figure in our United front work, we hope to convey some voices on both sides of the Taiwan Strait through her, so we try our best to be responsive. She came to Beijing to meet Hu Yaobang for two purposes. The first is to expand her influence in the overseas Chinese writers circle. Officially, Hu was the number one figure at that time. When meeting Hu, she will highlight her special position as an overseas Chinese writer group, which is her popularity and political capital. Sure enough, as soon as the news spread that Hu Yaobang knew her, it caused a sensation in the literary circles at home and abroad, and was interpreted as a person to be reckoned with by everyone. It was also an important weather vane showing that the mainland had made up its mind to carry out reform and opening up.

The second purpose of Chen's meeting with Hu Yaobang was unexpected at that time: she wanted to complain to Hu Yaobang and plead for the North Island. She said: such a good poet as North Island is very famous in the international literary world and at home and abroad, but this important "West Berlin Horizon Art Festival" is not allowed. She thinks this is inappropriate.

It was not until the end that the truth gradually came out. The original intention of the German Organizing Committee is to let Kitajima participate in this literary activity. The purpose is to let North Island play the leading role in the "Poetry Reading" in West Berlin. It turned out to be the same. At the recitation of works, other poets arranged in advance and hurried without concealment. When Kitajima came to power, the drama began, and the entire auditorium in the hall was immediately packed.

Of course, the organizing committee itself knows nothing about German literature, and they only listen to the authority of Sinology in West China. At that time, wolfgang kubin was just emerging, and its age, qualifications and political background were far from that of Helmut Martin. Gu is still unknown in the German Foreign Ministry and cannot be compared with Ma Hanmao.

In addition, Gu Bin has always been a pure scholar with no political background. When he met his later wife Zhang in Beitu in his early years, he was only a graduate student of Peking University. However, Ma Hanmao is different. He can dominate the world and gain considerable fame and influence in the German Foreign Ministry. Therefore, the Organizing Committee of the West Berlin Congress passed the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Center) in West Germany, and let Ma Hanmao bring this meaning to Beijing by his wife Liao Tianqi and his little sister Chen Ruoxi, and present it to Hu Yaobang face to face. The whole thing is progressing satisfactorily. Of course, due to Hu Yaobang's rationality and generosity, everything went according to his wishes, and Kitajima joined our delegation smoothly. Moreover, after visiting Germany, he did not leave the team privately as he had feared at first, and Kitajima returned to China as scheduled.

It happened that in the same period of the following year, in the early summer of 1986, it was Zhao's turn to visit, and the motivation was that Beijing Friendship Publishing Company would publish her novel. This is Zhao's birth work and her famous work-Our Song, which was also received by the Writers Association this time. Like West Germany, Zhao's Switzerland is also a German-speaking country, so Chen Ruoxi and the German-speaking countries are responsible for the exchange of foreign literature.

Looking back now, at that time, there were only a handful of well-known China writers overseas, including the United States, and even fewer well-known outstanding female writers. Therefore, Chen Ruoxi's visit to China a year ago was undoubtedly heard by Zhao. Zhao was a prolific writer at that time and in the following decades, and she was also one of the most active female writers in overseas literary circles. Zhao Zu was born in Beijing Gulou for a long time. His uncle, whom I call Uncle Zhao, made careful warm-up preparations for Zhao's visit to China. He went to the Writers' Association many times, telling his niece's patriotic complex overseas, and educating their two children how to love China's culture and tradition and how to live up to the people of China. However, well-known overseas writers come to China to arrange which country's leaders will come forward to meet them. There are internal and external affairs arrangements, and outsiders often don't know the situation, so it is difficult to understand and guess.

Zhao certainly hopes to see Hu Yaobang on this trip. But her situation is different from that of Chen Shi, and the details are naturally arranged by the internal control of foreign affairs. This hunch is still there. Zhao is a relatively single cultural person. As for politics, it can be seen that she is not interested and is willing to spend more time and energy on literary creation and children's education. Of course, I can arrange to meet Hu, which is a kind of political treatment, not because Hu is a cultural leader. In fact, Hu's understanding of the writers' circle seems to be limited. He has never heard of North Island, and he doesn't know if he is a member of the Writers Association. Obviously, Zhao and Chen have different political orders of magnitude, which Zhao knows in her heart, so she didn't arrange for her to meet Hu, and she accepted it gladly without any displeasure. Zhao is approachable, modest and unassuming, and an amiable person. This impression has been perfected several times in the Frankfurt Book Fair for many years.

In fact, our bottom line was very clear. Everyone she mentioned will be arranged except the leaders of the three great powers. She chose Kang Keqing instead of Deng. I don't know if they know each other. When we met and greeted each other in the Great Hall of the People, I thought I heard them on the Syrian front. As for cultural celebrities and writers, including leaders of writers' associations, we agree with anyone she wants to meet: Ai Qing, Feng Zhi and Shen Congwen from Beijing can do it. As long as she mentions it, we can arrange it even if we want to meet Ba Jin. Anyway, we are going to Shanghai. However, Zhao offered to see Bing Xin.

Speaking of Bing Xin, I first think of her daughter dancing lightly. Wu is the main teacher of the English Department of Beijing Foreign Studies University, and the British Empire is known as a hawk. When we were studying, we called the English Department "British Empire", because every school sports meeting, the English Department was always "overpopulated", and the soldiers were stronger than Ma Zhuang, ranking among the best. I have been thinking about this problem for decades since I met Bing Xin, and I have never found a similarity that can connect the mother and daughter.

The temper of dancing lightly is no less than that of a strong-willed person, which is far from her sister Wu Bing's character. The two sisters are both English teachers at Beijing Foreign Studies University. Once the English Department showed a movie in the auditorium. The whole hall was packed and there was a lot of noise before the screening. As the host, she wanted to say a few words, but there were too many students and too much noise, so no one could hear her. In a rage, she stepped on the bench step by step, and I happened to sit next to her. She shouted at the students, but no one heard her. Without saying anything, she jumped onto the big stage, and the whole audience burst into thunderous applause. Unexpectedly, all the students were silent during dinner. It seems that the students are still persuaded by her!

I asked my hometown, she has always been this style, and her mother is a famous poet Bing Xin. 1983, Qingwu returned to China after studying in the United States for one year, just in time for the resumption of the election of deputies to the National People's Congress in Haidian District of Beijing after the Cultural Revolution. She was blown by the wind of "democracy" in the United States, so she insisted on running for election and accepted the nomination of the Party Committee of Beijing Foreign Studies University and was elected as the people's representative. Because of Americans' feelings for community construction, the next year, Haidian Sijiqing Commune built a septic tank next to the school dormitory building, which polluted the living environment. As a deputy to the National People's Congress, she questioned the district government according to the Constitution and finally urged the septic tank to move away.

Regardless of appearance, temperament or figure, Bing Xin did not show any genes passed on to her daughter. Just because it's mother and daughter, there is no doubt that if it's father and daughter, it will really make people think about whether it's their own. Bing Xin's old man is delicate and delicate, and he is an out-and-out Jiangnan woman. Her appearance reminded me of my grandmother in my childhood memory at first sight. She was born white, dressed simply and neatly, and was also the same light blue button cloth, gentle and elegant, just like her real name "Wan Ying". It can be seen that Bing Xin was a beautiful woman when she was young. I followed Zhao and called her "Sister Bing Xin". From 1985, when I visited West Germany with Wang Meng, Jason and Huang Zongying, I followed the writer in the group named Huang Zongying and called her Big Sister. Since then, I have returned to China and met an old woman writer in China. I always call her Big Sister, regardless of Bing Xin, Ding Ling and Huang Zongying. Except Wang Meng, Deng Youmei and Malachin, all the old male writers are still called comrades.

Zhao proposed to meet Bing Xin because his idol when he was young was a complex that he had just finished junior high school. Zhao read Bing Xin's poems and was fascinated. This Bing Xin, who has been deified in Zhao and me for many years, is the man in front of us. We have loved her all our lives and met her, but she is so amiable, elegant and gentle, and her personality is as good as her appearance. She is easy-going, but she can vaguely see a strong invincible self-confidence. Her manners are decent, and her speech and writing are poetic. Tell stories, choose words and make sentences, be gentle, poetic and humorous. I told her: I started reading your poems when I was very young, and I have a large collection of your poems at home. She said, next time you come, remember to bring everything, and I'll sign it for you. Everyone says my handwriting is beautiful. Clear pronunciation and mellow voice! Made everyone present laugh.

Bing Xin lives in the Institute for Nationalities, which should be the house left by her husband Wu Wenzao. Professor Wu just died less than a year ago. This former sociologist and founder of the Institute for Nationalities is quite dramatic and romantic. As an international student, he met Bing Xin on a cruise ship to Seattle, USA. Both of them were in their early twenties that year. They met, knew each other, fell in love, and stayed together for 56 years, which became a much-told story in the world.

Housing is a suite, not big, or run at home. Light dance and her grandchildren appeared when they were children. I can see that the light dance is in charge here, and everything is in charge of her, just like in Beiwai. Bing Xin, on the other hand, seems to be a little girl, doing everything according to her daughter's appearance, just like the younger generation.

Since Bing Xin's home visit, she usually pays special attention to articles about her when reading books. Bing Xin's life is so tortuous, her emotional life is so rich, and her passion and loyalty to love have accompanied her through a century of life.
