How do doctors deal with skilled immigrants?

In view of the shortage of doctors in Australia, since May 20, 2004, the Australian Immigration Department added all kinds of doctors to the list of technical occupations (SOL) for the first time, so that overseas doctors who passed the assessment could get 60 technical points. At the same time, the Minister of Immigration added various doctors to the list of occupations requiring immigration (MODL), so that medical professionals can get an extra 65,438+05 points (the number of people employed by institutions of appropriate size will increase by 5 points). Qualified overseas doctors can basically immigrate to Australia smoothly, even if they are over 40 (but not over 45).

The current list includes the following doctors:

General practitioner (general practitioner)

Anesthesiologist (anesthesiologist)

Dermatologist (dermatologist)

Emergency medical expert (emergency medical expert)

Gynecologist (obstetrician)

Ophthalmologist (ophthalmologist)

Pediatrician (pediatrician)

Pathologist (pathologist)

Specialist (specialist)

Psychologist (psychologist)

Radiotherapist (radiologist)

Surgeon (surgeon)

Other specialists not classified elsewhere.

Overseas doctors who intend to immigrate to Australia must apply to the medical board of the state or field where they want to settle down and practice medicine. Only those who have successfully obtained registration status can apply to the Immigration Department for effective skilled migration.

If the applicant's qualification is not directly recognized by the Australian Medical Council, the applicant needs to take the AMC exam, which is divided into written test and diagnosis. After passing the exam, you need to practice for a period of time, and then apply to the state or field medical office for registration after obtaining the accreditation qualification.

If the applicant is an overseas trained specialist, he/she needs to apply for qualification assessment from the relevant Australian medical college, and then apply for registration from the state or field medical office after obtaining the recognized qualification.

It should be noted that AMC's English requirement is IELTS 7, and those who fail have no right to appeal. The assessment is conducted in Australia, so the applicant must have a valid visa. Written examination and diagnostic examination are often separated by several years. If the written test fails, they can only retake the test for a longer time, and the cost of various tests ranges from one thousand to several thousand yuan.
