Texas originally belonged to Mexico. Before 182 1, Texas was a part of the new Spanish governor (Spanish colony). After Mexico's independence, Texas became a part of Abel Lathaas, Mexico. From the 1920s of 19, a large number of American immigrants poured into Texas.

The residents of Texas are often called "Texans".
