The fresh water after power generation then flows into the Tangban Reservoir downstream, and then delivers high-quality drinking water to Lianjiang County and Fuzhou City on the east and west sides. During wet periods, it can also generate electricity, regulate floods, and irrigate. Huokou She Township has become the second water source of Fuzhou with good ecological environment and the main water source of Lianjiang City and Kemen Port District. In order to protect Fuzhou's second water source, the township has stepped up the pace of agricultural industrial structure adjustment, strengthened the improvement of the Aojiang River Basin, banned cage farming, folk custom tourism, slate mining, shipping and other pillar industries in the reservoir area, and restricted Lake fishing, large-scale livestock and other economic projects, while more than 52,000 acres of collective mountain forests have been listed as national public welfare forests for management and protection.
