Dzenit's team history

This team was first established in Petersburg (also known as "Petrograd" and "Leningrad") of the Russian Empire. At that time, in Russia, the history of St. Petersburg, full of political turmoil, was closely linked with the history of Dzenit. 1897, the first football match in Russia was held in Kranstadt near St. Petersburg. Ostroff, a local English immigrant team, played a match with Petrograd, a local Russian team. In the end, the English won the unofficial match 6-0.

The members of these local teams are in contact with amateurs. Finally, several more formal football clubs were established in St. Petersburg. These players are mainly workers of large industrial enterprises. However, some players were unofficial, and the rules at that time were very loose. Dzenit Football Club in the modern sense can be traced back to the early 20th century, when several teams in St Petersburg merged into Dzenit Club. Dunnett's whole team took part in the war. Vasily Ustinovich, a player in the team, even took part in the battle of Berlin with the Soviet Red Army. After the war, six members of Dzenit's team were awarded the title of Soviet hero and three were awarded the Lenin Medal. In fact, since the Great Patriotic War came to an end in 1943, the Sino-Soviet alliance has returned to normal.

Dunnett won their first honor in 1944, when they beat CSKA in the Soviet Cup. Because of the team's special position in Leningrad (Leningrad was the second administrative capital of the Soviet Union during the Soviet period), Dunnett also received many special care.
