British identity card number format

The number format of the British ID card consists of 15 digits, including the front, middle and back.

The front part indicates the home address of an individual in the UK. The middle part indicates the personal ID number, with * * digits 10. The first five digits indicate the address number, the last five digits indicate the date of birth, and the last three digits indicate the serial number. The first digit in the middle part can be represented by special numbers such as J(36), I( 17), Q( 12), K( 10) or O( 1 1), which represent different regions or statistical regions. For example, J(36) is used in the northeast of England and O( 1 1) is used in the south of Wales. The last digit indicates the check code, which is an algorithm to prevent counterfeiters from adding illegal characters or numbers to the ID number, and is generally generated according to the international standard algorithm.

The back part indicates the issuing number of the ID card, with 7 digits, which is usually generated and managed by the British Visa and Immigration Bureau.

Please note that in principle, the British ID number should be only one in a person's life and should not be changed with the change of address. If a person has no record in the British Home Office, they will not be able to apply for a national insurance number, which will have a great impact on their work and life.
