Historical evolution of harbor digging

The Governor of Rudong County, Jiangsu Province has a beautiful antique street. The street name is Zhou Fuhai. Zhou Fuhai is the earliest Rudong country name, which first appeared in the history of the later Han Dynasty. Zhou Fuhai was originally a sandbar formed by the intersection of the South Yellow Sea and the Yangtze River. It seems to be a child supported by the sea and the Yangtze River, hence the name. It was formed in the Western Zhou Dynasty two or three thousand years ago and was not connected with the mainland until the Tang Dynasty. There is a special sentence in "Chong Chuan Zhi Zhu Ci" to help Haizhou: "There is a rainbow in the west of Huainan Jiangbei to help Haizhou. It is an embarrassing thing to help the coast of Haizhou. The worse you are, the worse you are. " The first two sentences of this Zhi Zhu Ci accurately describe the geographical location of Zhou Fuhai: "Huainan" is south of Huaihe River, "Jiangbei" is north of Yangtze River, and "Haixitou" is west bank of Yellow Sea. This "Zhou Fuhai" is what we call Rudong. Therefore, Shi Zhili said that it was called "Fu Haizhou" in ancient times.

Rudong belonged to Wu in ancient times, but Rudong people were mostly immigrants, and few were born and raised. Among the immigrants, Jiangnan people are mostly Wu. Thousands of years later, many Rudong people can't speak Jiangnan dialect, but the melodious and brisk Jiangnan Wu Ge can still find its charm in Rudong folk songs today.
