Americans discriminate against blacks. Why do they even discriminate against whites like Irish and Italians?

White people are not monolithic either. The main ethnic group in the United States is white Anglo-Saxon Protestants (WASP). In other words, you have to be not only white, but also "Anglo-Saxon", that is, the main ethnic group in Britain: and you have to be Protestant. You must have these three conditions to become a "Han nationality" in the United States. Besides, you are all "non-China people".

Irish and Italians are not Anglo-Saxons, but generally believe in Catholicism and are sworn enemies of Protestantism, so Americans don't like people of these two nationalities very much.

However, it must be pointed out that this concept of wasp supremacy is gradually weakening, and Americans cannot say that they discriminate against these non-wasps. More importantly, WASP is only one of the nationalities in the United States, and non-WASP is also an important part of Americans, and the number is increasing, so the so-called discrimination is not serious. I'm afraid only a few extreme wasps will discriminate against other ethnic groups.
