The beautiful legend of Xiamen
-Before the Song Dynasty, Gulangyu Island was called "Yuanzhou Island" or "Yuanzhouzai". At that time, this small island full of rocks and rich aquatic plants was uninhabited, and only egrets and seagulls lived on it. At the end of the Song Dynasty and the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty, fishermen in Songyu gradually went out to sea to fish and landed on the sand slope in the southwest corner of the island to avoid the wind and waves. The Li family just went to the island to develop. There is a rock above the head on the beach, and there is a cave in it. When the wind and waves hit, they made "rumbling" and "winter and winter" sounds, just like drumming. This huge rock is called "Gulangyu", hence the name of the island. As for the formal naming, it was in the Ming Dynasty. During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, the stone carving Gulang Cave inscribed by the famous Ding came from this.
Soldiers with national surnames
-Zheng Chenggong was honored as "the grandfather of the country" and his soldiers were "the soldiers of the country". Strangely, in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, there was a kind of seashells in Fujian and Taiwan, also known as "soldiers named after the country". The legend goes like this: Zheng Chenggong practiced as a navy master in Gulangyu, and he was very distressed to see the soldiers working hard. He went to the seaside to see if there were any edible shells besides fishermen raising ducks. The surname Guo discovered a kind of seashells with beautiful shells, fresh and tender meat, which can be eaten by human beings and high yield, so the soldiers used them as food. This kind of shell is delicious and nutritious. Soldiers eat it, and they are all strong. They are very brave to take one as ten. Therefore, people call this kind of shell "a soldier named after his country". Strangely, after Zheng Chenggong left Gulangyu for Taiwan Province Province, the shells in the bay disappeared and appeared on the beach in Taiwan Province Province. This legend reflects Gulangyu people's nostalgia for Zheng Chenggong and his benevolent teacher, and turns this emotion into a folk song, which has been sung for more than 300 years: "Xiaohaibei is really brilliant, knowing the righteousness, helping Zheng Wang and raising a strong soldier." The country's surname is soldier, which is really clever. With Zheng Wang, Taiwan Province Province was recruited, which made great contributions. "
The History of Xiamen Gulou Ferry
-The Lujiang River between Xiamen and Gulangyu Island is less than one kilometer apart. Historically, the water exchange here only relied on wooden boats such as sculls, single paddles and sails. On June 9th, 1937, the Xiamen-Drum Passenger Terminal broke ground. The dock on Xiamen side is located on the bank of Lujiang River at Zhongshan intersection, and the dock on Gulangyu side is located in the former site of the so-called "piggy dock" where British and American invaders once sold Chinese workers. In the same year, it was completed on June 65438+1October 65438+1October 65438+1October 65438, but the small steam turbine was rented from Jimei. Six months later, Xiamen fell, and the Japanese invaders successively owned four steam turbines, namely "Xiamen An", "Xiamen He" and "Xiamen Heng". Besides retail tickets, they also sell long-term tickets. After War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's victory, the Kuomintang government still used the original steam turbine, which often broke down due to disrepair. At that time, a newspaper once made a wonderful irony about this with an article "Take a Cheap Boat": "The cheapest person in the world is Mo Ruo, who takes a drum wheel in Xiamen, and the ticket is only 300 yuan (according to the devalued Kuomintang legal tender). Sometimes it takes more than two minutes from drum to Xiamen or from Xiamen to drum. Three hundred dollars by boat at two o'clock is not cheap. " Nowadays, steamboats coming and going in the summer are beautiful, comfortable and safe, and can be reached in an instant. In addition, there is a luxury sightseeing boat with drums, which not only allows you to surround the beautiful scenery of Gulangyu Island, but also allows you to feel the heroic spirit of "the sea is vast with fish jumping, and the sky is high with birds flying".
Jintaishui
-Legend has it that Prime Minister Lu Xiufu and General Zhang Shijie escaped from Lin 'an (now Hangzhou) with Zhao Gang, the last emperor of the Southern Song Dynasty, and went between Jiulong River and Gulangyu Island. They met nine dragons in the Jiulong River, and the royal ship bumped up and down, and they were going to be buried in the belly of a fish. Zhao Gang suddenly remembered the proverb "Gold is evil", so he took off his gold belt and threw it into the sea. In an instant, the people on the island opposite Gulangyu Island rejoiced for the little emperor and shouted long live. From then on, the island was called "Song Yu", and the water between Gulangyu and Jiulong River was called "Golden Belt Water". Naturally, at sunset, people stand on the viewing stone of Bijia Mountain in Gulangyu Island. The reason why they can see the intersection of salt and fresh water in Jiulong River is because it is sparkling and presents a long golden water pattern, like a golden belt, which is completely caused by light. However, scenic spots are always accompanied by many legends. When Zheng Chenggong set out from Gulangyu Island and recovered Taiwan Province Province through Kinmen, people called this water area leading to Kinmen and Taiwan Province Province "Jintai Water". Up to now, I have often heard a ballad that has been circulating for more than 300 years: "He who sees through gold and water can't see Taiwan Province Province and Dutch foreign devils and occupy Alishan. Our country's surname is Ye, and we are not afraid of difficulties. I sent troops across the sea from Taiwan Province Province to drive away foreign devils and give me back my great rivers and mountains. Gold brings water to the golden platform, and the water in the golden platform. " This ballad expresses the deep affection among the people of Gulangyu, Jinmen and Taiwan Province Province.
Xianjiaotong
-A grotto with a large desktop near the Bagua Pavilion is the "fairy foot bucket". Legend has it that when Gulangyu Island was still a desert island, one day, a fairy came across the ocean to have a rest and a drink on this beautiful island. There was no fresh water in Gulangyu at that time. Immortals stamp their feet, rocks become caves, and there is water in the caves. This is the origin of the "fairy foot fight".
Quanjian
-Jianchi, one of the eight scenic spots in Taiwan, is said to be named after Zheng Chenggong washed his sword here after killing the enemy. It is said that the sword well under Yinding Mountain in Taichung was also named after Zheng Chenggong's garrison here. Gulangyu also has a sword-related well named "Sword Spring", which is still obtained by Zheng Chenggong's plan to split the ground with a sword and dig a well. Although Jian Tan, Jian Jing and Quan Jian have their own opinions, in the poet Lin Jinyun's works, the three are integrated into one, which has become the basis for him to express his patriotic feelings. Lin Jinyun, a native of Anxi, Fujian, moved to Danshui, Taiwan Province with his father in his early years. He often went to Tan Jian, and also went to Jianjing in Taichung. He was deeply moved by Zheng Chenggong's feat of expelling the Dutch, recovering the land and building a treasure island. 1895, after Taiwan Province Province was occupied by the Japanese invaders, he lost his second hometown, unwilling to be a docile subject, and returned to Gulangyu with Lin Shuzang, who lived in Danshui, Taiwan Province Province. Lin Jinyun wrote in "Zheng Yanping Wangjing": The sea is dry and the rocks are rotten, and the east is seen several times; Only the mountain spring is still good, and the bright moon stays in shape. This shows how much I miss Taiwan Province Province, Tan Jian, Fujian and Quanjian.
Dragon theory
-Sunshine is like a dragon head, formerly known as Longtoushan. Legend has it that the dragon on Gulangyu Island and the tiger on Hutou Mountain in Xiamen, just like the drum guards in Xiamen, are guarding Xiamen's coastal defense gate across the sea. The legendary dragon has not only a dragon head, but also a dragon tail, a dragon throat and a dragon saliva, all of which are unique scenery on the island. Wei Long is Qiwei Mountain, formerly known as Weilong Mountain. Zheng Chenggong took Longtoushan as a water platform and planted a tail flag in Weilongshan as a symbol, so it was renamed Qiweishan. Dragon throat is a cave near the rising sun pavilion. Legend has it that this cave is connected with Haikou and was once a haunt of pirates. After Zheng Chenggong came. For the people, the cave was blocked at the mouth of the sea, leaving only a section of the hole as a hidden warehouse for collecting weapons. At the same time, a stone gate was built outside the cave for guarding. Longxian is a well named after the country in Yanping Park. This well water is not only the sweetest well water on the island, but also never dries up despite drought, and it is also colored. It changes color three times a day, at three o'clock in the morning and at noon, it faints.
Legend of Avalokitesvara with a Thousand Hands —— In Xiamen folk and southern Fujian, people set February 19th, June 19th and September 19th of the lunar calendar as "Bodhisattva Sacrifice Day" every year. During the three-month period from 17 to 19, the "Thousand-handed Guanyin" bodhisattva in the temple was the most popular. The thousands of Guanyin statues in temples are generally sitting up, some are elegant, arched in the middle of their arms, and there are many green fingers and jade arms on both sides of their bodies, with different postures. Speaking of the origin of Guanyin with a thousand hands, there are different opinions, and there is a beautiful and moving legend circulating among the people. According to legend, Guanyin Bodhisattva, formerly known as Miao Shan, was the third princess of an ancient Zhuang king. She is beautiful, intelligent and kind-hearted. One day, Zhuang Wang was very ill and dying. A monk came to see Zhuang Wang's illness and explained to his three daughters that it takes a pair of eyes and hands to introduce drugs. Miaoshan's two sisters didn't want to lose their eyes and hands, but Miaoshan, who was filial, gave her hands and eyes for her father. Her noble character touched God. If the Buddha comes, she will practice Taoism, so that her eyes can be restored and she can see in all directions. Grow thousands of arms. From then on, she kept an eye on the road, and when she saw who was in trouble, she stretched out a hand to pull. It is said that February 19 is the "birthday", June 19 is the "enlightenment day" and September 19 is the "nirvana day". In these three days, many people in Xiamen always got up early and went to the temple to worship her. The origin of avalokitesvara with a thousand hands is just a wonderful story spread among the people, without any historical basis, but it can quite reflect people's yearning for truth, goodness and beauty.
