The first batch of prisoners exiled here arrived on the cruise ship "May 1st" on 1896. Since then, the Argentine government has begun to send more civil criminals to ushuaia for development and construction, also known as Tierra del Fuego Immigration Plan. Many criminals are skilled in all kinds of crafts. They came to ushuaia to participate in different construction projects, which opened a new page in the history of ushuaia.

Twenty years later, it became the most famous prison in South America. 19 10 at the beginning, the authorities built a 25-kilometer-long railway track to collect wood and transport stones and other building materials from the mountains. Every day, prisoners will take a small train from the prison to Bibo Valley to cut wood and stone.

From 65438 to 0947, the prison at the end of the world ended its mission and was replaced by the ushuaia Museum, which recorded this history permanently with different exhibits and photos. There is a saying in front of the ushuaia Museum, "This is the end of the world, and everything starts here."

Ushuaia is a small town, so you can visit the whole city in one afternoon. The main commercial street in the whole city is St. Martin Street.
