Zhucheng is a rare treasure house of dinosaur fossils in the world and has the reputation of "the hometown of dinosaurs". At present, the largest dinosaur fossil in the world-"Giant Shandong Dragon" was unearthed here.
Zhucheng has a long history. As early as 5,000 years ago in the Neolithic Age, people settled and multiplied here and cultivated this fertile land for generations. According to archaeological research, Zhucheng area belongs to the late period of Dahankou culture and Longshan culture. Zhucheng, formerly known as "Zhu", was an active area of friendship and harmony in Xia and Shang Dynasties. It is called "the city of Qing and Xu" and is a contiguous zone connecting Qingzhou in the south and Xuzhou in the north.
Zhucheng was a fief in Juzi in the early Western Zhou Dynasty. Within the territory of 16 cities, Zhucheng has buildings, workshops and sub-cities.
During the Spring and Autumn Period, Zhucheng belonged to Lu in the south and Qi in the north. During the Spring and Autumn Period, Langdai in Zhucheng was occupied by the State of Yue. The uprising troops led by Fan Chong, a native of Zhucheng, painted their eyebrows red in order to distinguish between the enemy and ourselves in the battle, so they were called "red eyebrows". Wang Mang's regime collapsed under the heavy blow of the uprising troops such as the Red Eyebrow Army. Liu Xiu, the royal family, rebuilt the regime of the Han Dynasty, which is also known as the Eastern Han Dynasty. In 80 AD (the fifth year of Zhang in the Eastern Han Dynasty), Langya County was changed to Langya State, and Zhucheng was under Langya State, still under the jurisdiction of Xuzhou Secretariat.
During the Three Kingdoms period, Wu Dong was the land of Wei State and belonged to Chengyang County.
In 289 AD (the tenth year of Sima Yan Taikang in the Western Jin Dynasty), it was changed to Dongguan County, which belonged to Xuzhou.
During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the whole country was unified. Wendi streamlined the local administrative system and changed the state, county and county levels to state and county levels. Historically, the administrative divisions of Zhucheng have also undergone several changes. In the early Qing dynasty, there were townships below the county level and cooperatives in the countryside.
