I am an international student, F- 1 visa.

F- 1 visa is a kind of visa issued to foreign students studying in full-time schools recognized by the US government. These schools can be universities, colleges, professional schools, primary and secondary schools, technical or vocational schools, language schools and so on recognized by the US government. Foreign students studying in these schools have been engaged in formal study for a long time, with the aim of completing their studies prescribed by the school and obtaining degrees, diplomas or academic certificates.

F- 1 visa refers to the non-immigrant visa issued by the US consulate to foreign students who want to study full-time in American academic institutions.

◆ Features of F-1visa

65438 +0. F- 1 Visa has a long residence period and is generally valid for 5 years. Once you enter the United States with this visa, you can stay for up to 8 years as long as you maintain your registered student status. Moreover, if there are no special circumstances, the visa does not need to be extended.

2. The visa is generally valid for half a year. This validity period does not mean the time you stay in the United States, but that you can enter the country twice at any time during the validity period of the visa (marked in the entry column of the visa).

3. During the validity period, the visa can freely enter and leave the United States, as long as it does not constitute academic interruption, and there is no limit on the entry and exit time.

4. Spouses and minor children can go to American classes.

5. You can work for a period of time, or you can apply for a work permit from the Immigration Bureau.

6. If the number of courses or class hours can be reduced due to health or academic reasons, full-time study is not required, and the student visa is still retained, and it is not necessary to apply for permission from the immigration bureau, only the written approval of the full-time school official is required.

7. If you have graduated from college or above, you want to apply for a green card through professional immigration, which is more advantageous than other non-immigrant visas.

U.S. government's restrictions on F- 1

1. Show your certificate when entering the country.

Entry with an F- 1 student visa requires presentation of the visa and I-20 form. The immigration officer at the port of entry allows entry and decides the time to stay in the United States according to these two documents. When you enter the country with an F- 1 visa, the I-94 entry card generally only indicates the date of entry and has no validity period. Generally, only D/S is signed on the due date, indicating that the holder is within the study period of registered students. The end of the study period is the expiration date of their visa or identity.

2. Schools must be qualified to issue I-20 forms.

Any government-recognized official school in the United States must apply to the Immigration Bureau if it wants to recruit foreign students. If approved, it will be eligible to issue an I-20 form (qualification certificate) authorized by the Immigration Bureau. Moreover, at least one designated official recognized by the immigration bureau and the embassy or consulate is responsible for handling international students' affairs. Such officials are called "school commissioners" and China students are generally called "student advisers". Because it is difficult for the Immigration Bureau to directly manage hundreds of thousands of international students across the country, the student's identity-related affairs are directly managed by this student consultant. Another basic duty of the student adviser is to report the relevant information of the students to the Immigration Bureau regularly or irregularly, such as whether the students continue to register at school, whether they have illegal jobs, whether they are studying full-time, whether they are transferring to other schools, etc. So that the Immigration Bureau can know the situation of students routinely, or make decisions or punishments when students violate the regulations, such as revoking visas or even ordering them to leave the country.

3. Restrictions on visa signing.

After entering the United States with an F- 1 visa, if the visa expires but the identity has not expired or has been extended, you cannot endorse it in the United States. If the holder wants to enter or leave the United States, he must apply for a new F- 1 visa from an overseas embassy or consulate.

◆ F- 1 visa application conditions

Students who practice in technical schools, vocational schools or other non-academic schools-give priority to classroom teaching, with no less than 18 hours per week, and give priority to laboratory teaching, with no less than 22 hours per week. 2. Have a certain level of English.

3. Have sufficient economic resources. Applicants must be able to prove that they have sufficient financial resources to complete their studies in the United States without relying on work. 4. Have the intention to return to China. Student visa is a temporary visa, so when applying, the applicant should indicate that he must return to his country of residence after completing his studies.

◆F- 1 Work that can be done by visa.

1. School homework. Jobs provided by schools or other institutions serving schools, such as cafeterias and small shops. However, those who have business relations with schools do not belong to this scope, such as building dormitories and post offices for schools on campus. The working hours are no more than 20 hours per week, but you can work full-time on holidays, and the work on campus does not need the approval of the Immigration Bureau.

2. Work as a scholarship. If you get a scholarship or grant, but only if you undertake a certain job or part of it. In this case, even if the workplace is off campus, there is no need to obtain the approval of the immigration bureau.

3. Off-campus special work. This kind of work is limited to employers participating in pilot research projects. Employers can only apply to the Ministry of Labor for hiring foreign students if they cannot hire suitable American workers for 60 consecutive days. Students in general employment can apply to the student counselor for approval as long as they study well, without the approval of the immigration bureau. However, not many employers have obtained this qualification, so it is difficult for ordinary students to find this opportunity.

4. Internship. Internship is generally divided into two types: course internship and graduation internship. Course practice refers to the course-related work practice from the ninth month after the start of registered study to graduation. The internship period of the course generally does not exceed one year, and it is not necessary to apply to the Immigration Bureau, but it can be approved by the student counselor. Graduation practice refers to the work practice after completing studies, which can last for up to one year. The application for graduation internship must be approved by the Immigration Bureau and the student counselor, but those who have been practicing for more than one year before graduation are not qualified for graduation internship.

5. Work approved due to economic difficulties. Students with F- 1 student visa who have been studying in the old school for more than one year may apply for a work permit in accordance with the regulations if they encounter unforeseen economic difficulties.

◆ Three principles for issuing visas by American embassies.

1. Is there a legitimate reason to go to the United States (school, visiting relatives, visiting friends, doing business, etc.)? Are justified reasons);

2. Is there any financial source to ensure that the applicant can lead a normal life during his stay in the United States (sufficient financial proof is required for studying at his own expense, such as the full scholarship obtained is the financial source);

3. Whether to return to the country of residence in the future.
