During the Wanli period in Ming Shenzong, a famous monk chose this precious place to build a temple, which has a history of hundreds of years. Long years, great changes. This temple has been destroyed and repaired several times. Among them, during the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty, Taiping soldiers flourished and suffered a blow, and Tongzhi was repaired for two years. During Guangxu period, there were private schools. After the Revolution of 1911, it gradually declined. In 16 years, the temple was rebuilt. It was renamed Zhu Feng Ancient Temple. Since then, incense has flourished and pilgrims have filled the door. In the 1940s, it was invaded by Japanese invaders, which led to the destruction of temples. Monks leave the temple, and no one cares.

In the second year of Yong Chu in the Southern Song Dynasty, in order to commemorate Guanyin Bodhisattva, the local people built an Antang on Tongyuan Island, named Yuantong Temple. He also made a Buddha statue out of mud for the common people to worship. The Antang of this thatched cottage has been circulated for more than 800 years.

In the early Tang Dynasty, Yuantong Temple was rebuilt, and three giant buddhas were built, mainly Guanyin Bodhisattva, including 100 nuns. When song and yuan war broke out, Yuantong Temple was robbed, destroyed and defeated. In the thirty-second year of Kangxi in the early Qing Dynasty, Yuantong Temple was restored on a large scale. After liberation, it was destroyed in the turmoil of the 1960s.

Under the guidance of Buddhist hermeneutics, Yu Tongzao, Zhang and others set up the preparatory group of Yuantong Temple to rebuild the destroyed foundation of Yuantong Temple. On September 14, 2002, Yuantong Temple was successfully completed.

The reconstructed Yuantong Temple is 13m long, 12m wide and 5.89m high. There are 68 square meters of Zhaitang, Tibetan Scripture Building, 60 square meters of woodshed, 66 square meters of monasteries and toilets. This temple covers an area of more than 2,600 square meters. There are eleven bodhisattvas in Yuantong Temple, among which three giant buddhas are more than 1.5 meters high, and the others are more than 1.3 meters high, all of which are made of gold and magnificent.
