Have sales experience in Canada.

I used to study engineering, and before I immigrated to Canada, I worked as a salesman in domestic and foreign enterprises. Now a listed company in Canada has been engaged in sales for four years, which is my first sales job in Canada. I think some new immigrants like sales as much as I do, and I hope to continue to do sales here. I would like to share my experience with you. At the same time, I also hope that new and old immigrants who have worked in the sales industry can communicate with each other and discuss how to develop in this workplace. Please correct the mistake.

My experience is to foster strengths and avoid weaknesses. My English can't be compared with that of locals, so when I look for working hours, I focus on finding international sales positions; Coupled with my own technical background, I focus on technical sales.

Some of my experiences over the years are as follows:

1. Sales and sales-related positions will be labeled with various names, such as: sales representative, sales engineer, sales support, sales coordinator, application engineer, application specialist, technical sales, regional representative, channel sales, account manager, customer representative, business development, product sales and so on. So don't just stare at the word sales.

2. Sales language, of course. If it is aimed at the international market, oral English may sometimes be less important than writing. Because of the time difference, many people write emails, but the language barrier must be passed.

3. If you are not confident about the language, you can apply for sales support, sales coordinator, internal sales support and other positions first. These positions are mainly to assist in external sales. After self-confidence is enhanced in the future, you can apply for internal transfer opportunities or job hopping.

4. Other sales-related departments/positions can also be tried: market research, marketing, marketing coordinator, product marketing specialist and sales analyst.

5. How to find a sales position: routine: job search website, introduction by acquaintances. Various technical seminars and product exhibitions. I found some people go to these places with resumes. This is how a salesman of my company came in. He came to an exhibition to learn about the products, and everyone had a good chat. Finally, he took out his resume and said that he had the opportunity to help him pay attention. When the company recruited people, I recommended him, and as a result, he was really hired. However, most booths are for sale, so you should be prepared in advance. In addition, going to the exhibition is also a very good opportunity to know the industry you want to enter. Generally, tickets are expensive, but most of the time they are open to the public free of charge at some time. I want to find the exhibition schedule in Canada, but I can't find it. I don't know if there are any good people who know.

6. Too small companies generally do not do international trade (excluding the United States). I think we can go to TSX.com to make a survey of the company, and then go to the corresponding website of the company to see if there are any vacancies. Fast-growing companies usually pay attention to the international market, so you can visit these websites: //dtt/section...53d36 17, 00.html.

7. Canada-China trade is mainly in raw materials, agricultural products and auto parts. You can get information at the following website:/

8. If you have Canadian citizenship and plan to return to China, don't forget to contact embassies and consulates in China, Canada, who can help provide the vacancy situation of Canadian enterprises in China. These government agencies are provided by our taxpayers, so we should consider using them.

Finally, I want to cheer you up: I have seen many new immigrants from the mainland engaged in sales and sales-related jobs here on different occasions, and some of them even reached V.P., so we should be full of confidence and never give up!

I wish you all realize your dreams and hope you can share your experiences together!
