Does Trump prevent American citizens from applying for parental immigration?

Hello, last month, President Trump proposed a major amendment to the immigration law, which made it easier for well-educated immigrants to come to the United States, but it became more difficult for many people, including parents of American citizens.

For immigrant employment, President Trump hopes to use the "scoring system" currently used in Canada. The score of the system is as follows:

1. University degree (more points for master's degree and doctor's degree)

2. English ability (based on test)

3. Age (young immigrants who are close to 25 years old score higher than those who are older than the New Year)

Obviously, this system prefers young and well-educated immigrants.

Another change proposed by the president for relatives immigration is that American citizens are not allowed to apply for their parents. The president seems to want more immigrants who are likely to get high-paying jobs, such as computer programmers and scientists, and less immigrants from restaurants and factories. The president obviously wants immigrants who can work for many years, not immigrants who have retired or are close to retirement.

Most likely, this proposal will not become law, because many members of Congress, including the Party and the Democratic Party, have indicated that they will not support this proposal. But what worries me is that politicians begin to talk about making it more difficult for families to reunite in the United States. I think the law still allows American citizens to apply for their parents, but it is fair to ask them to buy medical insurance from the government in advance. In addition, immigrants who do not work or file tax returns in the United States should not be allowed to receive social security or other benefits from the government.

I think as long as immigrants pay their own money and don't ask the government for money, they should be allowed to come to the United States, especially the parents of American citizens. In fact, if we tell many young, educated and talented immigrants that they cannot bring their parents to live in the United States when they are old, they will not want to stay in the United States. Many people bring their parents to America to help raise their children, so that they can have more time to work and do business. This will help to make more contributions to the American economy.

Again, I don't think this proposal will become law, but I don't like watching similar news put forward by our president. I'll let you know whether legislators really start to seriously discuss this proposal or other suggestions to change our immigration law.
