The house of Sa upson.

Asa Upson House was built in 1836, which is one of the only six houses in Shaker Heights built before 1850. This is one of less than 400 houses left in Guhuojia County. It survived in the rueful avenue of 19027. The story of 175 begins in the early 9th century, when a northern family moved from Connecticut to the western reservation. At the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 20th century, several governments and non-governmental organizations took actions to protect the early history of Haitz, which is a symbol of this cradle.

/kloc-in the first half of the 0/9th century, thousands of Connecticut Americans immigrated to the Connecticut reservation in northeast Ohio, where they cultivated fertile soil. Newly-married couple Asa and Chloe upson are two members of the Connecticut Yankees. They came to northeast Ohio. At around 1820, they settled in Potic County, but later they moved to Kuhoga County. 1834, they bought more than 200 acres of land in the then Warren sville town and today's Shakchi city.

The land purchased by Asa and Chloe upson is located on the north and south sides of Kingsman Road (now Chaglin Avenue), less than half a mile west of the town center (now Warren Center Road and Chaglin Avenue). During the period of 1834- 1852, Mr. and Mrs. upson sold half of their land and cultivated the other half. There, they raised a big family of four men and five women. During these years, Asa and Chloe Upson were community organizers and activists. Asa used to be the chief financial officer and trustee of villages and towns. 1837, Chloe became a founding member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Warrensville, and her husband Asa served on the Building Committee, which was responsible for establishing the first church in 1845.

1836, Asa and Chloe upson established the original part, which is now located at Chaglin Avenue 19027. The original house was built in accordance with the prevailing architectural style in the United States at that time, which was called colonization or Greek revival. This style of house usually has a main building with gables and an annex called ell. Judging from today's streets, part of the upson house built by upson consists of the left two parts of the front three parts of the house.

After living in Warrensville for nearly 20 years, Asa and Chloe sold their farm and moved to Illinois on 1854. At the end of19th century, there was a blacksmith shop here. A quarter to three centuries ago, the house left by the upson family on Chagrin Avenue was almost miraculously preserved in 2 1 century after several years of major renovation, which was largely attributed to the care of its later owners. However, it survived in the second half of the 20th century and the first decade of 2 1 century, mainly due to the efforts of three organizations-Shaker Historical Society, Cleveland Restoration Society and Shaker Heights Landmark Committee-from 65438 to the early 1960s.

The Shaq Historical Society began to tout Asa upson's house as one of the oldest houses in Shaq Heights, and arranged a city tour. Decades later, in 20 10, when the house needed to be overhauled, the Cleveland Restoration Association intervened and funded the maintenance work to prevent the house from being damaged. Finally, at the beginning of 20 1 1, the Shaq Highland Landmark Committee designated Asa upson's residence as the landmark of Shaq Highland City, thus imposing protection obligations on all future owners of the residence and assuring Shaq Highland community that this historic residence will remain in the city for many years to come.
