In order to break the powerful clan forces in the south of the Yangtze River, restore the production and develop the economy, and consolidate the rule, Zhu Yuanzhang issued an "Immigration Order", which forced a large number of people in the south of the Yangtze River to move to Jiangbei for land reclamation, and was not allowed to move back to their original places, cutting off all ties between immigrants and their original places. It was called "Hongwu Chongjun" in history. It is said that the "Hongwu drive away" began in the early Ming Dynasty. In order to consolidate the Daming regime, Zhu Yuanzhang ordered all military attaché s to travel and ride horses on the grounds of reclamation since the third year of Hongwu, confiscated the property of the gentry and businessmen who had supported and supported Zhang Shicheng and Peng Yingyu, ordered the whole family to move to other places to reclaim wasteland, and rushed large families from Raozhou and Jiujiang to Jiangbei for forced large-scale immigration. At the end of Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of Ming Dynasty, a large-scale Red Scarf Army uprising took place in Jianghuai area, which caused this area to be thousands of miles away. Yichun, Raozhou and Jiujiang are the active areas of Peng Yuying, Zou Pusheng and Xu Shouhui, while Sunan is the base area of Zhang Shicheng. When these gentry and merchants were driven away, they all registered in Waxieba, and most of them settled in nearby Anqing. By the 22nd year of Hongwu (1389), 270,000 of Anqing's 420,000 residents came from Waba. In this large-scale immigration movement, a large number of Jiangxi immigrants near Anqing moved into Anqing. According to Zhu Shu, a scholar of Tongcheng School in the early Qing Dynasty, "Since the Yuan Dynasty, Anhui people have not been ancient Anhui people, but migrated from Jiangxi. The people who moved from other provincial capitals were wrong, and the indigenous people were only eleven or two ears. " After a large number of Jiangxi immigrants arrived in Anqing, they were told by the court that they were not allowed to move back to their original places, nor were their brothers and relatives allowed to contact each other, otherwise they would be severely punished. However, these migrant centers who have left their homes have always had the illusion that they can return to their hometown one day. Therefore, after the old immigrant died, according to the dying wishes of the deceased, the coffin was temporarily parked in the coffin room, not buried underground, but only on the ground, hoping to return to his hometown one day. Because the imperial court's compulsory policy of not allowing immigrants to move back to their original places has never been loosened, year after year, people feel hopeless, but they still have illusions about moving back. In this way, this funeral way for immigrants to miss their hometown of Jiangxi has gradually become a unique custom in Anhui, which has been used ever since!
