Wanjiang region refers to the Yangtze River basin along the Yangtze River in Anhui Province since the 1990s, covering five cities in the current administrative divisions. Namely: Anqing, Chizhou, Tongling, Wuhu and Maanshan.

Such as Hexian ape-man site, Yinshan site and Shuiyangjiang paleolithic site. In the Neolithic Age, there were many relics in Wanjiang area. Such as Xuejiagang Site, Wang Yang Temple Site, Monopterus albus Site and Tianningzhai Site.

They created splendid history and culture in their long-term activities, which greatly enriched the connotation of early human civilization in China. From pre-Qin to now, Wanjiang culture has never been interrupted, so the history and culture of Wanjiang area has a long history.

It covers a wide range, rich in content and profound in connotation, involving important historical figures and major events, as well as literature, opera, calligraphy and painting, politics, economy, science and technology, religion, folk customs, ecological environment and many other fields.

Wanjiang culture was a lonely place in literature until the Tang Dynasty, but with the reversal of the power contrast between the North and the South, the rise of Yangtze River transshipment gradually became prosperous, especially the success of Jiang Yandao in Jiangnan shifted from east to west. Chizhou Road was set up in the early Southern Song Dynasty, and Huining Pool was set up in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, which was the embryonic form of Anhui and introduced Anqing to Jiangbei for the first time.

Since the end of Yuan Dynasty, due to the war, immigrants have played a major role in the development of Wanjiang River. Wanjiang area is mainly an immigrant area, and the earliest people living in Wanjiang area were only in the Tang and Song Dynasties. The ancestors of Wanjiang people mostly came from Huizhou and Poyang, Jiangxi, and migrated during the Yuan and Ming Dynasties.

The remarkable feature of immigrant areas is that they accept new things quickly. Therefore, people in Wanjiang are relatively liberated and often walk in front of the trend. The 800-mile Wanjiang River has nurtured an innovative humanistic tradition.
