Black people participated in the construction of prosperous Tang civilization during the Tang Dynasty.

Chang' an (now Xi' an) City in the Tang Dynasty gathered overseas people from all over the world, including many black friends from Africa. In the cultural exhibition "Towards the Prosperous Tang Dynasty", which is being exhibited in Hunan Museum, two black pottery figurines of the Tang Dynasty conveyed to the audience the information that they participated in the construction of the prosperous Tang civilization.

These two black clay figurines were unearthed from the tomb of Tang Dynasty in the southern suburbs of Xi 'an. They are 14.5cm high, with curly hair and thick lips. Chen Jianming, director of the Hunan Provincial Museum, analyzed that from the images they displayed, the people of the Tang Dynasty had no racial discrimination against them.

Taiping Yu Lan records the story of a Kunlun slave who, with his courage and wisdom, helped his master scholar to date his beloved woman and made a happy marriage. There is also a vivid description of Kunlun slaves in the Tang poem "Kunlun Er": Kunlun lives in Haizhou, and barbarians will travel to China in the future. They love their skin as black as paint, and when they walk, they are half-stripped.

some scholars in China have studied that the word Kunlun was often used to describe something black or near black from Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties to Sui and Tang Dynasties. Therefore, Kunlun slaves refer to black handmaiden. Chen Jianming said.

In fact, there are many physical historical materials about the blacks in the Tang Dynasty. The reporter learned that black images can be found in Dunhuang Tang Dynasty murals and some famous paintings handed down from the Tang Dynasty, such as Yan Liben's "Gong Tu" and Zhou P's "Man Yi Zhi Gong Tu". Chen Jianming said that there are also records about black handmaiden in ancient documents such as Old Tang Shu, Book House yuan gui and Tang Huiyao.

Some experts in literature and history in Hunan Province believe that the number of blacks in the Tang Dynasty may be quite large. They traveled across the ocean to China. Except for a few people who were engaged in commerce and trade, most of them were probably sold to the dignitaries at that time as slaves by * * * businessmen, and stayed in China for life, witnessing and participating in the construction of Tang civilization.
