Does Lufeng belong to Chaoshan?

Chaoshan area generally refers to Chaozhou, Shantou and Jieyang, and sometimes the Chaoshan area in a broad sense also includes Shanwei. In a narrow sense, Shanwei does not belong to the "Chaoshan area" in a narrow sense. Because of ancestors' immigration, Zhangzhou culture has a greater influence here than Chaoshan culture. Shanwei's population system and language composition are far more complicated than Chaoshan.

To outsiders, Shanwei belongs to eastern Guangdong and Chaoshan. But in fact, among the people, the culture of Chaoshan is still different from Shanwei. Some people also put forward the view that "Hailufeng culture" is self-contained.

The name of Chaoshan comes from:

Chaoshan was called Chaozhou in ancient times, and the name "Chaozhou" was named after the jurisdiction of the ancient Chaozhou government, meaning "within Chaozhou, the tides are reciprocating". In the 11th year of Emperor Kai of Sui Dynasty (59 1), the original Yi 'an County was renamed Chaozhou, and the names of the administrative districts used as Chaoshan were Sui, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing.

The name "Chaoshan" originated in modern China, and appeared in Chaoshan customs archives in the 9th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1883). It was used in Chinese and foreign politics, diplomacy and trade.

The name of "Shantou" evolved from the abbreviation of "Shashantou", and the administrative names used in Chaoshan range from 1956 to 199 1 year to 65438+February. Now refers to Shantou city.
