What is the US 1-485 visa?
Identity adjustment is an application submitted by foreigners in the United States to adjust their non-immigrant status to immigrant status (green card status). In the past, applicants were only allowed to submit I-485 application for status adjustment if their immigration application was approved. However, since July 3, 2002, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service has issued a regulation that allows the I-485 application for adjustment of status and I- 140 application for immigration to be submitted at the same time when the visa quota is available.
