Does Anqing belong to southern Anhui or northern Anhui?

Anqing is neither in the south nor in the north of Anhui. Anqing is located in the middle of Anhui.

Anqing is located in the southwest of Anhui Province, which belongs to the central part of Anhui Province, the north bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, where Anhui enters the river, Hubei in the west, Jiangxi in the south, the main peak of Dabie Mountain in the northwest and the remaining veins of Huangshan Mountain in the southeast. Known as "the Yangtze River seals its throat, and Wu Chu is the first state in Xinjiang". Anqing was the seat of ancient Anhui in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, and Anhui Province was called "Anhui" for short.

Central Anhui, which spans the Yangtze River and Huaihe River basins, has a long history and is an important part of Anhui's economy, Jianghuai culture and tourism. Central Anhui is south of Huaihe River in Anhui Province and north of Dabie Mountain-Chaohu Lake. Southern Anhui is the birthplace of Huizhou culture, while northern Anhui is "on both sides of Huaihe River", but its popularity is relatively low.

At the beginning of the People's Republic of China, it was the administrative office of northern Anhui (located in Hefei). 1On August 7th, 952, the People's Administration Office of Northern Anhui merged with the People's Administration Office of Southern Anhui to form a new Anhui Province, with its capital still in Hefei.
